@Mrs. Myrtle Beach:  +1

Aside from the local vs. traveling thing, you also have to consider the “I got to work tomorrow morning” thing. If it’s a casual, not-so-late, mingle kinda thing… I think you should be fine.

If you want everyone partying and dancing until 2 am, that might be an issue there.

@GelaMac:  Well I don’t know if I’d actually do it, but I think this vintage ring with a green diamond from Brilliant Earth is wowsa.

@LibrarianBride:  My family is not that bad at all.  Most of the family that I have on FB live over 2000 miles away and comment sparingly.  It’s one of his side that comments the SECOND I post LOL! I may have to do the custom on the status thingy to block what they see.

Try to be extra careful with your ring, the prong style looks like the black diamond could fall out.

@marie02:  I’ve known two sets of friends who did that, and I sort of envy them! It’s a unique solution to some interesting complications. I think it’s romantic and SO much less stressful. I vote do it 🙂

@GelaMac:  When I first read your post, I thought: “Fun!” Who doesn’t love to shop with pretend money? Smile

But, when I started looking around at different ring styles, etc … I quickly realized I don’t love anything quite as much as my own ring. Even though I drool over many, many different styles and types on here, I haven’t yet found one that makes me think, “I want that!”

This is what I have now:

.90 round, D, Si2 set in platinum / 32 princess-cut invisibly set stones on the shoulders and band, which are G color and a total carat weight of about 1.5.

If I’m pretending that my ring is lost and I am shopping with the insurance payout, I would probably get something like this:

Verragio, round brilliant prong set, G VS, ~.5 CTW in setting … set in platinum with a Round 1.25 CT E, Si1, Very Good.

Or, perhaps this:

Brilliant Earth Sapphire and Diamond Bezel set, matching set with a ~1.5 ct round center, E and Si1

@GelaMac:  I would go back to the jeweller who made my custom upgraded replica and ask them to make it again lol.

When I was in the process of upgrading I did have the chance to get a different ring, but chose not to as I love mine; nothing else matches up. Here it is:

I would talk to my jeweler, explain the situation, and then wait until he could replicate my original ring!

I would keep the same diamond stats, but switch up the setting.
