I’ve stated that id either die of starvation or that id become a vegetarian before.  I get upset when I see movies that deal with killing animals.  And yeah, id probably also be the first one to die in a zombie apocolypse.

@sunkissed19:  lucky for me, I am already a hunter. living in Alaska, we are able to hunt for big game and keeps our freezers full for winter. for example, in Sept. I will be going out to harvest a moose. That moose meat (along with salmon we fish for in the summer and other wild game) will keep us from buying meat from the stores that come from cows filled all sorts of weird crap (whatever it is they feed them).

So yes, I would hunt for my food….at least I know the animal I am consuming is living free and wild in open land and not confined to little cages. 🙂

Not a chance. Packaged meat is a luxury, but I’m acutely aware of, and comfortable with, where it comes from and wouldn’t have a problem butchering for my own consumption if need be.

I have in the past and would again.  My Fiance grew up on a farm where that was a way of life and livelihood.  He’s a city boy now but can go back to it if he had too.  We already purchase grass fed beef, pastured chickens, wild fish, etc as it is so we may as well save $$ raising and hunting it ourselves.  Between my shooting and bow hunting skills and his farmer experience we’d be a’ite.

If we’re talking about a REAL doomsday, I doubt there be many veggies or desirable meat to eat for that matter.  I think hunting pigeon and stray cats would be more like it.

Vegetables are a lot less hassle.

I’ve got no delusions about meat coming out of living animals, but I don’t want to actually do all the killing, cleaning, and preparing myself. I don’t even like touching raw meat juice when I open a package of hamburger.

Yeah I would, I like that I don’t have to (much easier), but I easily could kill animals for food.

@alaskin17:  I envy this. I don’t eat much meat because I disagree with factory farming, and the inhumane way they are slaughtered. I respect that you hunt and use much of the animal without waste.

I would learn to hunt or die trying. I really do not like very many vegetables and being the ones I do like are so limited I’d get bored with them very quick. Plus I’d miss chicken way too much. lol

Yes I would, and I’ve hunted before. Though I would probably do more fishing.

Yes I would, we usually have our animals sent to the local butcher so they can do the actual killing as a matter of choice but if it came down to it I would do it myself. At least I know where the animal has come from and that it has had a nice and happy life.

I think most people would be able to kill animals for food if they had too. I believe it’s really only a recent thing that we have become so squemish about it.

I would. I personally don’t believe in eating anything you wouldn’t be prepared to kill yourself. I have a friend with the exact same life outlook and he is a vegetarian 🙂 just my opinion though!

also just to add I used to have a Harris hawk who would catch rabbits that we would have to kill and would eat. And I have fished a bit 🙂
