@Willow1991:  Are you wearing them up or down? When mine get dry I do the following:

-DO NOT wash them again if you can avoid it. Washing them strips away the silicone they use to seal it, which is what dries them out. If you have to wash them, put a few teaspoons of shampoo (a moisturizing one!)  in warm water and basically just swish them around in the sink….DO NOT ring them out.

-rinse out the shampoo, then COAT them in a strong conditioner, or preferably a treatment…I use kpak. Anything for dry/damaged hair will do the trick. Wrap them in a towel and let them sit for at least an hour

-Rinse out the conditioner, then put some conditioner on the ends like you would a styling cream. Not a ton…probably about the size of a quarter depending on how much hair you have. Since they aren’t attached to your head, they can’t really get oily or greasy.

-wrap them back in the towel and let them dry…it will take a good twelve hours.

DO NOT brush them when wet, and DO NOT blow dry them. When they are dry use a heat protector before you straighten them again.

Good luck 🙂

I just bought my clip-in extensions and they are not cheap. I would be really upset if my stylist colored them too dark.

I would have her do a test strand to see if it’s going to damage/ruin them by lightening. I completely understand wanting her to replace them, but I would wait and see how they turn out after lightening. Make sure you look at color swatches so the color is exactly what you want.

@Willow1991:  I’m not sure the hair dresser can buy you new extentions because the color is a shade off. You may choose not to pay her for the color. Take the extentions and deep condition them with JBCO and EVOO (at least 3 hours) This should make them silky again.

Is your extensions real hair ? If it is real hair, I would re-condition them again, just so you can make sure the cuticle is closed. If it is fake hair, I wouldn’t bother.

She should be able to lighten them and there not be a problem. I have colored many extensions multiple times since becoming a hair stylist and if you are using the right products (which im assuming she is) it should be fine!

For future reference, after you wash them I would recommend spraying some leave in conditioner, and use a pick to get the tangles out and let them hair dry.

@Willow1991:  These are 100% human hair extentions right? They should not have done anything to the hair without your permission. I am having extentions dyed later this week and they are super expensive. Why would they dye them a 2nd time without consulting you? Yes, you should ask for payment to replace them. You can always try to make the best of it and ombre your hair:0)

@Willow1991:  You are upset, I understand why. However, human hair extentions can be fixed, its human hair. The color can be lifted and they will feel like silk again if you wash them and deep condition them with a hydrating product (Herbal Essence Hello Hydration) and an organic oil like Jojoba Oil or Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Trust me, try it. Oh yeah like the other poster said let them air dry beforeyou comb them or anything. Then spray Garnier with Aragan oil heat protectant spray on them before you flat itron them and they will be like new.

@Willow1991:  I am sure they can be fixed and it should be for free because of the hassle. Once they fix the color, deep condition them and let them air dry. They will look like new. Put a quarter size drop of EVOO AND conditioner on them and let it sit overnight. Wake up and rinse the hair with coolwater. Let the hair air dry then spray heat protectant and flat iron.
