OK, so my something borrowed is an antique ivory pearl necklace that my mother is letting me borrow for the day of the wedding. I love the pearls, but I’m having the hardest time figuring out what earrings go with it.
They aren’t “white” pearls, they are definitely more of a cream color, and I’m having a hard time finding pearl earrings to match. Also, since I’m only borrowing the necklace I dont want to spend a fortune on earrings to match.
So it occured to me that maybe I don’t have to do pearl earrings?
What do you Bees think, can I do maybe diamond earrings instead? Or is that too different?
My Necklace is very much like this one:
These are earrings that I’m considering, but they are 55.00 for imitation pearls which seems a little steep to me. Also I wont be able to tell if they truely match my necklace until I order them:
Or diamond earrings(this picture is just an example):
I’m open to any suggestions on where to buy wedding earrings too!
Thanks for your help!!

i’ve never been a fan of the “matching set of jewelry” look. i love the necklace with the diamond earrings.

I think you only need to match the “feel” of the jewelery, not the materials. For example, if you are wearing edgy earrings, an uber-femme necklace would look funny.
PS, I love those diamond earrings!

I honestly think pearls with pearls, but its all very gorgeous. All of the jewelry you picked out is beautiful

@helenberrycrunch: My thoughts exactly.
It also depends if its a strand of pearls or say a single pearl on a slider that fits on an omega chain. I see yours is a strand, so to me as long as its a classic earring. I would almost tend away from the single pearl earring studs (i like your drops though) with a strand because its a little too Newport for my taste.

I prefer jewelry that matches. However, matching antique jewelry is VERY hard. Your pearls are very classic, and I always think of pearls as a neutral that go with anything. They’re go with anything from a beautiful wedding dress to a pair of jeans. So anything you choose is going to look gorgeous.
I do agree that the pearl earrings you found are a bit pricy for imitation pearls. Here’s something you could do. Take your mom’s pearls with you and find fingernail polish that matches them as closely as possible. Then find an inexpensive pair of imitation pearl earrings that you love, but don’t worry if the pearls match because you can use the fingernail polish to make them coordinate with your mom’s necklace.

I think doing something that has a rhinstone/pearl mix for an earring will look best. Both of those earrings are nice though and I think it would all come down to how it all looks with your dress, hair, etc.

I really like the first set of earrings you showed. They will flow with your necklace, and don’t seem too matchy. I like the look of pearls with diamonds a lot.

I will be wearing a pearl necklace just like yours and my mom’s diamond earrings (my something borrowed!)

Oh, and my bracelet is a mixture of pearls and crystals so it blends them together.

Personally, I would wear pearl earrings to match.
I love your necklace choice!
Simple, yet elegant!
As for suggestions…check out Etsy.
They have tons of really good shops.

I wore a pearl necklace with Tacori prasiolite earrings and I thought they looked beautiful together 🙂 I’m not really a fan of things being too matchy-matchy, so I say go for the diamond earrings!

I wore a pearl necklace with diamond earrings – I really liked it!

I like the earrings you posted that combine sparklies and pearls. I think solely pearl earrings with that necklace might look too matchy matchy, but I would still try and include some kind of pearl touch to the earrings so they’re not entirely incongruous.

One of my favorite pieces of jewelry is my grandmother’s pearl necklace. I wear it to work, with jeans, ect… Like yours the color is very creamy. I tend to wear it with diamond studs more than anything though I also have black pearls that look great for a more low-key look. I’m planning on wearing my pearls for sure when I get married and will likely wear the diamond studs as well… Both of your earring choices are beautiful and either would look stunning. Have you considered whether or not you will be wearing your hair up on down?
