something that can be used on the couch and left out for a chilly evening. Also neutral colors are the best-that is always what i lean towards! plus they dont ever look dirty like some of the bright colors do.

I think greens and blues are really pretty and go with a lot of things.

I’d want it to be throw sized (to have around the couch or something).  I wouldn’t use it on a bed.

I like the size that can be used as a throw on a chair or couch. (I’m not sure which size that is.) And I’m not sure how you can know which colors people are more likely to buy… maybe more neutral colors? like lighter brown/ light blue?

Even though we have a full size bed I always get King quilts.  And I think either neutral or blues would be best

I love quilts at auctions! Unfortunately it seems that the only people that make quilts for auctions make them in a very old fashioned style with green/yellow/frilly stuff everywhere.

My only suggestion would be to make it at least a queen size (or big throw) and make it a bit updated. You can definately use an older pattern (totally fashionable); but try to make it using updated colors or fabric choices.

I’m sure whatever you decide to make will look lovely and be much appreciated!

(The only reason I suggest anything like this is because I attend and have attended quite a few auctions and every single time without fail I watch people get excited about a handmade quilt and then realize it is not remotely neutral in style/color or much too specific/out-dated).)

Also if you know there will be a large turn out of medical staff at the auction you may want to make it red/white and put some medical images on the quilt itself (red cross image, “first do no harm” image for doctors, etc.). For example: At school auctions quilts with school colors tend to be bid higher. The same with themed quilts; such as animal shelter charities with animal themed quilts, etc. Hope you post your final product. I’d love to see it!

@chasesgirl: it means Children Of The Americas. My family goes every year to Ecuador and other places in South America and provides medical care etc….. thought that may have been what you were doing! ๐Ÿ™‚
