My dream proposal has always been the one from Gilmore Girls- Lorelai shows up at the inn and has been surprised with 1000 yellow daisies. I think if I could do it over again, I would have flowers and candles and our favourite songs playing in the background. Just the sort of thing that shows he knows me, and it’s romantic without it being too OTT and also, alone. I would feel too awkward with people around.

I actually got my ideal proposal without ever having to make it known that this was my ultimate dream.
Every year since we started dating we’ve done the same date around the same time in June: go to the Philadelphia Zoo and walk along Boathouse Row (my favorite spot in the city). Each year we’ve changed it up and done other things on top of the zoo and BHR such as berry picking at an orchard, going to a concert, going for milkshakes at a 50s style diner, etc.
Michael and I had planned to go to the zoo the day after he graduated from the police academy. We did cheesy things – swan boats, fed the ducks, watched informational videos on tigers. Then we went to walk around boathouse row and it all just fell into place. It was the best date ever made even better by making it something we will truly treasure for a lifetime. I always imagined since our first date doing this that that day could only be even more special if Michael proposed to me that day – and he did. I don’t think I even looked at my hand until a few days later when I came off cloud 9; no date will ever come close the date we share doing touristy things every June.

An obscene amount of red roses, candles, and champagne. 🙂

+1. Honestly, I probably couldn’t have even come up with the proposal I got myself but what he organised was so perfect, if I could get a do-over, I’d ask for the exact same one!!
