I don’t think I should have to pay for the makeup or hair.

$40-$50 sounds very reasonable for makeup to me… I couldn’t find anyone under $80!

@JFay: That’s exactly why I’m stuck. It would be different if we were going to the same town for our hair, but I don’t know if I want to be going around town and all that for just make up.
That’s a very good idea. The only issue with that is that the make up artist that would come to us charges a flat rate of $100 and then each bridesmaid pays another $50. If I chose that, I wouldn’t want all but 1 to choose to get it done professionally. I’m not sure if this is generally how those things go or what the $100 is for so I’m hoping I can just find someone else in general.
I was upfront with all the girls right away that I would prefer them to pay for their dress, shoes, hair, make up and nails if they chose to get those done. They all agreed and that’s why they’re in my party. Since they’re paying for that all themselves, we all agreed they could have an opinion about everything and I have to respect that. I want them to do whatever they are comfortable with when it comes to money but I don’t want them to all come and get their hair done and then we all go our separate ways for make up and meet up later. I would be the bridesmaid that would have to have someone else do it or else all you’re getting from me is eyeliner and maybe some mascara. haha. I don’t want to put anyone in that position if at all possible.
I’m sure I’m not alone in wanting to spend the morning as stress free as possible while still making my bridesmaids happy. There’s a happy medium out there somewhere, it just hasn’t made it’s way to me yet 🙂

As a bridesmaid I wouldn’t want to pay to have my hair or makeup done. I’ll happily do it myself though.
