…what are you going to judge me on/notice/snoop in? Are you going to think, gosh, I see a cobweb; her puppy is stinky; what ugly countertops; I wonder where she got that; I wonder what possessed her to get THAT; why does she live on a farm; or I wonder what this house cost. Do you snoop in the medicine cabinet? Look at pictures? Go into bedrooms? I have had some terrible house guests, so I am just curious what kind of guest YOU are.
I don’t pay any mind to clutter, but I do notice if things are genuinely dirty. I notice if animals don’t seem well taken care of; I look around to see if any renovations have been done, because I have an interest in that stuff; and I always notice the smell. All houses have a smell. I do look at any pictures that are displayed, but I never snoop through people’s private stuff, medicine cabinet included.

@MrsPanda99: I notice the smell for sure, I will wonder where you got things. I also notice if something isn’t finished with the same quality as the rest – you have a gorgeous kitchen, everything upgraded except for the faucet, or you’re missing the baseboards or quarter-round at the floor. I may have been known to poke through a medicine cabinet or two (blush). If things are really dirty I’ll notice.

If I see the inside of the fridge and it is dirty I will notice. Same with the bathroom sink or something. But gnerally I do not go out of my way to snoop. And you’re definitely right that all homes have a smell.

Smells right off the bat, such as bad pet smells or cigarette smoke. Also wether a house is genuinely dirty, if I sit down on your couch and get up covered in dog hair, yuck. If your toilet is yellow and filthy, yuck, etc…
I also do notice finishings, decorating, etc, out of interest.

Ill notice if a house is dirty, but most people I know have a good reason (baby, etc). My big thing is smell, whether its the house, the fridge… if something stinks its because its being neglected and that kinda grosses me out. Ive also been known to really like things in peoples houses and go buy them for myself, like my new motion-sensor trashcan! 🙂

@MrsPanda99: Smell, absolutely. I have been a to few houses recently that were in dire need of a good airing out.
I will notice clutter. I am freakishly neat and tidy so I can’t help it. There isn’t an ounce of clutter anywhere in my home (drives Darling Husband crazy sometimes).
If the bathroom is disgusting I will of course notice. I once went to a party where the bathroom was worse than a truck stop porta potty. There were hairs everywhere (legs, beard man hairs, long hairs…everything), makeup on everything, dried up toothpaste, trash just laying around, a tampon applicator (empty) etc. It was GROSS.
As for medicine cabinet or poking around meh no I haven’t. Honestly I don’t see what is so intresting about that kind of stuff.

@MrsPanda99: I’m never very observant, or judgemental at all, because usually houses I visit are cleaner than mine, lol! But when I was little, I would embarrass my mom because the first thing I would do when visiting someone is go into their bathroom and check out their toilet paper. I would then come out and exclaim, “Mom! They have the CHEAP toilet paper!!” (Or the expensive kind, whichever the case.)

Lol, I always notice when an animal stinks. I notice home smells but usually don’t judge them unless it’s a gross smell. I will always notice how many pictures someone has of themselves, and if they have multiple framed pictures of themselves on the wall I will judge. Stinky refrigerators gross me out. Clutter doesn’t bother me but trash does. I’m on the hunt for a new dining table so I always look at other people’s tables and imagine what the table would be like in my house.

I have 3 indoor dogs, all of whom shed a ridiculous amount. And I hate cleaning.
So I really cannot judge anything about someone else’s home. I do notice smells though. As far as I know, my house does not stink. I vacuum several times a week, use a swiffer (that smells so good,) use fabreze, and always have candles lit.
I can handle someones house smelling like dogs, but I like old food smells. Like if you made fried chicken 3 days ago and I can still smell it, *gag.* My mom used to go visit a senior lady, and her house always smelled like old food. I hated going with her, it smelled so bad.

@MrsPanda99: the only thing I have ever taken away from someones house was that they had pure white carpets covering every floor in the house except the bathroom/kitchen and even in there they had white tile. I was so nervous to eat anything thinking I was going to spill on it. Everything else I dont judge on, its your house and you LIVE in the house so its expected to look used, unless you are a hoarder. Yep white carpets/couches/hoarder are the only things that I judge on.

Smell, dirty walls, and the bathroom.

I always notice the decor– I never really look to see if it is dirty or not, maybe we just have really clean friends!

@anemone681: That would freak me out too. I love the look of white carpet, but with a doggy and kids in the future it was not a good option for us.
@allyfally: You can’t smell your own smell! Lol. I never notice a smell in my house, but I can everywhere else. I’ve always wondered what my house smells like 😛

@Future_Mrs_Dr_I: LOL, I notice cheap toilet paper too. I can’t say I’ve never announced it though 😉

@MrsPanda99: I know, that always worries me. Thats why I always light candles when I know people are coming over. I cant tell if it stinks or not, but hopefully if it does then I can disguise it. XD
