I’m getting married in December and picked out my dress in March. Ever since I purchased it, I was always just feeling luke-warm about it – My thought process was, it’s just a dress, it’s pretty, it’s fine, but nothing earth-shattering. I picked it because I had my heart set on choosing one on the first day of dress shopping, for some weird reason, and it was the best one I tried on. My family was obsessed with it, but I just wasn’t in love.
I had my first fitting last week and started to think a little more highly of the dress, because it did fit me perfectly in the waist this time, but it still didn’t fit properly in the bust and the hem was about a foot too long, so I still wasn’t completely wowed. I had my second fitting yesterday, however, with it hemmed to the perfect length and fitting my waist and now my bust properly… and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I’ve never felt prettier in anything I’ve ever worn before – honest to god.
I just wanted to write this little post for those of you who are having dress regret, but haven’t had your fittings yet. Once your dress fits you the way it should, it really makes ALL the difference in the world. Give it time, and I’m sure you’ll feel much better about your dress. There was a reason you chose it, after all 🙂

I’m glad. I’ve been feeling secretly ashamed of regretting my dress decision. I just recently shared my feelings with my mom and Maid/Matron of Honor. They both think I’m nuts so I hope after alterations are done I will be wowed. 🙂 Thanks for giving me hope!

@springbride23: I went through the same exact thing! I felt awful after buying the dress for about a month and I was embarassed for having spent that much money on something I wasn’t thrilled about, so I didn’t say anything to anyone. It didn’t help things that I then spent all of my time watching Say Yes to the Dress and watching girls crying about how happy they were their gowns, while I was apathetic about mine, lol. I told my mom before the first fitting that I hope I didn’t hate it, and that I wasn’t that excited for it, and she said the same thing – “You’re nuts!” haha. I guess I was!
I’m sure you’ll feel a lot better after the fittings 🙂 Keep us updated!

@chrissyb464: Thank you so much for sharing this with us : ) My dress won’t arrive until February, and I keep looking at pictures of myself in the ill-fitted sample and wondering why on earth I ever decided to purchase this gown!? However after reading your post, you have definitely given me hope that I will start to like it again once it’s properly fitted.

@RaeBee: Haha I know the feeling, believe me. I had this awful picture my mom sent me through text message in the sample dress, and it might as well have been a burlap bag. I’m sure you’ll look gorgeous!! 😀
