(Closed) If you’re invited but cannot attend, do you still send a gift?

I don’t think that it is required.  I usually do for close friends and family even if I can’t go to the wedding/baby shower/etc.

I typically send a gift no matter what.

I was one of the firsts out of my circle of friends to get married and I didn’t get a lot of gifts from friends our age.  And I don’t think horrible things of them!

Etiquette never requires you to give a gift, other than at a shower (if you attend) which is strictly a gift-giving occasion.  I like to send over a gift if I can’t make it, but only if I am close to the bride.
