I think my photography and possible videography is going to do it for me. I really want it videotaped, but hate going over budget.
What pushed you over budget? Did it happen close to the wedding or a few months before?

I think for me it was just everything adding up. I knew I’d be over budget pretty quickly after I started planning.

our initial budget was VERY low. it was 6K, but then we realized we could afford to splurge a little more so we added certain things like an 18 passenger limo, a nicer reception hall, nicer wedding bands and this made us go over.

If we go over, it will be because my parents want to add alcohol. Still up in the air, but it is a midday event so its not unreasonable to not have it.

We went over because we last minute added videography, chiavari chair rentals and upped our floral budget. I was so good at keeping to the budget at the beginning of wedding planning, but I’d just hate it if I spent all that money and all I could think about after the wedding was “I wish I got the better chairs” or “I wish the centerpieces were more dramatic” so I just spent the extra money.

We paid the largest sum to our venue (both ceremony & reception) & our wedding package purchased through them. I upgraded our cake that was included & the total ended up being about $700 over what we planned after taxes & gratuity, so that pushed us over almost immediately. I’m trying to be as frugal as possible in all other areas, though, to make up for it.

We are paying more for our photography than I had budgeted for but I absolutely love our photographer so I’m ok with splurging.

Photography for sure! We also had a tough time cutting down the guest list so that stretches the guest list in all sorts of areas.
