We have some cabinets from IKEA, paid for by our landlord and installed by my husband. We’ve only have them for a couple months, so we don’t know how they’ll stand up over time, but so far they look good and feel sturdy. We like to buy small things at IKEA (pots, pillows, etc.) and big things on the local version of craiglist. I think we get better quality and price that way :). Good luck!

IKEA has a lot of “wood laminate” type things, and those fall apart. However if you go with solid wood cabinets I don’t see how there could be much difference between the ones from IKEA or anywhere else.

Darling Husband is a manager at Ikea and we bought a lot of furniture there when we started living together 5 years ago. Almost everything has lasted very well.

I know a lot of people who have Ikea kitchen cabinets and they all have lasted for years and years. Most have only been changed out because of changes in taste and usually just get new Ikea cabinets.

Their kitchen cabinets have a 25 year warranty, and the internal hardware is from a very high end european manufacturer. I know 3 people who have had IKEA kitchen cabinets for over a decade, and they still look brand new! I’d use them in a heartbeat!

Ikea is a good place to start off, but not something you would go for long term. I do like Ikea though.

I’ve heard that the cabinets are easy to install. If you don’t like the doors (as they tend to be all very modern looking), you can order doors that will fit your ikea cabinets online. This is so common, manufactuers actually specifcally make them to fit the IKEA frames. Just google it, you’ll see!

I personally love all the ways to organize, in the ikea kitchen , within the cabinets and shelves, etc. Their systems do not fit my American cabinets, though, the measurements are different.

As a person who only buys ikea for junkie things, like end tables and tv stands, I love their kitchens. I’ve had three ikea kitchens and they have all been incredibly durable. Only cabinet I don’t like are the tall drawer like pantries—they are a bit wobbly.

I hate Ikea, but their kitchen cabinets are supposed to the one item that’s actually decent quality. I’ve even heard from other Ikea-haters that this is true.

Our kitchen has Ikea cabinets. I don’t have any problem with them. I wish I had a picture on my phone to post, but they are decent cabinets. My husband has had the house about 7 or 8 years. I think they were installed right before he bought the house so they’ve at least been in there that long. They still look good!

We’ve got one of those tall cabinets that somone mentioned in a post above in our bathroom. It is a bit wobbly, but it holds all of our stuff and fits perfectly in the little space we have in there.

I generally hate Ikea furniture but their IKEA kitchen cabinets are the one thing I have pretty universally heard good things about.

I love Ikea furniture. My bedroom set, dining table/chairs, and livingroom shelf are from there, and I am going to get a TV stand and a coffee table from there in a few weeks. Everything I have is sturdy, and very easy to put together.

I love the Ikea cabinets. My sister has a wood laminate kitchen table that’s total crap, but you could tell just by looking at it that was the case. The chairs are terrible but she loves it. She’s weird. We have a bookcase and some shelving units and cabinets and they’re all great. The only thing I’m not crazy about at Ikea are the modular sofas that are one piece of hard foam. I think they’re ugly and uncomfortable.

i have a solid wood entertainment center from ikea and i absolutely love it! i thinks as long as you stay away from laminate, you should be good to go. ive heard good things about the kitchen cabinets plus they have so many neat gadgets its hard to resist.  🙂
