Ikea definitely does not have a registry service.  However, there are a variety of sites including myregistry.com and amazon that allow you to make a universal registry and include Ikea items that way.

On a side note – I added a few ikea items onto my registry and they are so far the least popular items – no one has gotten any of them.  I added inexpensive things like bar stools, an entryway bench, a coat rack and a stool so it isn’t the price point, however I think guests may not want to gift you a flat-packed box that you need to put together yourself.

SheriRashad:  The IKEA business model is based around the lowest cost price for consumers. Establishing and maintaining a registry service would incur administration costs, and have a flow on effect for setting price points. It is not a service that will be offered by the IKEA Group (there are franchises however which may).

As suggested, maybe just add the items on a variety registry.

It’s probably just that franchise that did it. The people who own that IKEA thought they’d pay the additional cost for it.

If they changed their policy, all the IKEAs would have the service, not just a single store.

SheriRashad:  If IKEA doesn’t have a registry service for you to use, you could always write ‘The couple also welcomes gift cards from IKEA’ next to your other registry info on your invite.

missadventure85:  We did the same thing since there were a number of things we wanted from Ikea and they don’t have a registry option. 🙂

I think Ikea isn’t very accessible for many guests to order items off of for your wedding, so I would just ask for gift cards. I’d love to register for ikea, but the closest one to us is over an hour away, further for most of our family, and a lot of the items either don’t ship or have outrageous shipping costs.

SheriRashad:  Cirkel has launched an online service that sells IKEA products! You can make a registry for whatever occasion or you can buy the items straight from their website. Check it out at http://www.cirkeldesign.com.
