Miss funnel cake just wrote this post: http://www.weddingbee.com/2011/07/01/one-ring-to-rule-them-all-4/ about engagement rings in Switzerland and Germany and how the men there wear their wedding bands on their right hands during the engagement and then move it to their left hand once they’re married.
It always bothered me that women wear engagement rings as a sign that they’re “spoken for” or “promised to”, but men (at least American men) aren’t expected to wear any such sign until they’re actually married. I kinda feel like I’ve been proverbially peed on-I mean, he’s marked his territory, why can’t I mark mine?
I talked to my fi about it and he totally agreed with me. He’s even a little excited about wearing a ring too. I’m definitely going to talk to him about this right hand/left hand idea, but I also worry that other guys will give him crap about it.
Should I let it go? What do you think about men wearing a ring during engagement? Will your fi wear a ring?
