Ladies….. I need help!!! My fiance is from Indiana and I’m a chicago girl. I’d like to theme our Out of Town bags around where we are from, my problem is I can’t think of what to put in it.
I have already thought of Garrets Popcorn/Tootsie Rolls/Wrigley Gum – I don’t think that’s enough for Chicago. I don’t think I want to do Giftcards for Chicago area resturants, I’m afraid it would be a waste for those just staying the night of the wedding.

Where from in Indiana? If you are looking for food ideas, check out http://www.IndianaFoodways.com. The state pie is the Sugar Cream Pie, but Indiana is also known for Pickles, Popcorn, Pork, Pies & Persimmons. .
You could also do something Colts themed? Or Basketball themed since Indiana is home of the NCAA Hall of Champions Museum. Or racing themed for the Indianapolis 500?

I am doing a similiar theme for my Michigan Out of Town bags and found that the state had a “products made in michigan” website. I did a quick google search for Indiana and Illinois and found:
Also, when you find things to use see if the manufacturer has an “outlet” or store. I found bettermade chips has an outlet in Detroit and was able to save $10… 🙂

You could also put in treats from each of your backgrounds… for example Polish candies or Italian cookies. Or some other special treat like your grandmother’s banana bread. Or even some snack that is your favorite – like if your Fiance always eats cashews or pretzels. We did something like this to personalize and show each of our families coming together.

@zippylef: Omg, I had no idea there was music about Indiana except for the one from “The Music Man!” Crazy!
OP: There’s really not a ton of stuff related to Indiana, except for sports and corn :). Popcorn would be a great representative of us!

I’m from Indiana, and I’m having trouble coming up with stuff. Orville Redenbocker (sp?) popcorn and Weaver popcorn is founded and made in Indiana. (Maybe that’s why I loooove popcorn so much!) Red Gold tomatoes are grown and processed here, but that’s not really Out of Town bag material. 🙂 I saw online that corndogs are a popular Hoosier food. I also saw that canned tomato juice was developed in Indiana.
I’d say anything racing themed (Indy 500), basketball themed, Colts/blue and white, fair related (because of the big State Fair?), and popcorn are probably your best bets!

For our South Bend Out of Town bags we had chocolate bars from the South Bend Chocolate Company with the ND logo on them and snack size bags of kettle corn from http://www.popcornindiana.com/ (they sell them at Walmart across the country, bought ours in CT!). We used a vintage postcard that said “Welcome to South Bend” as the tag on the bags (scanned it and printed out copies on cardstock).
