Hello there Wedding Bee comunity! I need help setting up a proposal for the most amazing woman of my life!
I have an idea on what I will be doing but I just need some oppinions or maybe tips of how other women like this idea.
We live here in Virginia Beach, and as of right now, the weather still feels really good! 75 degrees and sunny! Im just hoping it holds up till the end of the month because I am planning on proposing to my girlfriend Amber on the 30th!
My plan is to surprise her with a picnic proposal on top of the mountains with a few closest friends. She thinks our group of 5 would be going to the blue ridge mountains for some outdoorsy nature stuff one last time before it gets too cold. The day before the trip, I will mention to her that I have an emergency at work and would have to miss Saturday’s adventures but will meet our group there on Sunday. Actually, what I will really be doing is driving there on my own on Sat morning so I can set up the picnic area for the proposal. The place I’m planning to propose at has a magnificent view which hopefully will be captured in photo by my bestfriend who will also be in our group. After the proposal, and hopefully she says yes, I plan on just enjoying Sat and Sun with our friends and mother nature.
For the ring, I took my time in choosing it and incorporating a design tht is special to us. Amber always told me that our friendship became special when I dropped her off at the airport and gave her a really big HUG. Also that she knew I would be the one when we first KISSed each other. So the ring I chose is a 1ct diamond ring with an XOX design, obviously for hearts and kisses. I also went for this corny idea of engraving her dog’s name “Buddy” on the inside of the ring to make it special. After all, when you marry someone, you, in a way marry the entire family and Buddy is family to her.
Here are the ring pictures if I can upload them.
Please let me know your oppinions. I would greatly appreciate then!

The proposal picnic sounds lovely and it sounds like she will definitely be surprised if she reckons you’re working.
Honestly, the XOX design and Buddy engraved made me cringe so much and I thought it’d be so cheesey and awful but, then I saw the picture, and the ring is actually lovely. Most people won’t notice it’s an XOX but you can tell her why it is and that’ll be a special meaning between the two of you. Still not keen on the Buddy bit but hey…. some people may really dig it.
What will the picnic be like? I think it’d be good if it were just the two of you, but then secretly it was filmed/photographed/both by your friends. So it would be private and intimate but then all your friends would be really close by and could celebrate with you afterwards.

vicky, is the dog idea really that corny? buddy’s been with amber through a divorce and theyve been together for 8 years. i know he’ll pass away in the future but i want her to know i love her despite everything in her past.

FWIW, as a dog person, I like the dog name, too. It’s very personal.

I have to disagree with VickyAurea. The buddy part to me is really special. All my friends and family love their pets as if they were another family member. I think it’s sweet because it shows her you love her and everything that comes with her, even if that’s a pet. That and having a pet so long, I’m sure it will be a wonderful memory once her pet passes. The ring is gorgeous. I honestly didn’t notice the XOX part until you pointed it out. I just thought it was a beautiful design. You did a great job making it a subtle part of the design!
Love the surprise picnic idea! A friend of mine proposed to his girlfriend while playing scrabble. Actually. He pretended he was getting nauseous and asked his lady to run to the grocery store to pick him up tums and crackers. She got back and he had changed the pieces on the board to spell out “Will you marry me.” She had no idea it was coming. It was amazing. They still go on about it. Pretending to go to work is pretty brilliant. So long as you do it casually. Women have amazing instincts. You’ll have to make sure you play it right so she doesn’t suspect.

Thanks Claireos! That makes me feel better! No disrespect to other people’s oppinions of course but maybe here in America, we just adore our pets so much!

I love the engraving – that is so sweet! I’m a huge dog lover myself, but our dogs were adopted once we already lived together. 🙂
That ring is GORGEOUS. Seriously, it is. I love that the XOX is present but not overpowering. Something sweet between the two of you.
As far as the proposal, it sounds good. The only thing that made me pause was spending the rest of the time with friends. Admittedly, we all spend our time differently, but I know we were so into just being together for the entire weekend after he proposed. It was somewhat romantic. But that wholly depends on your couple style. 🙂

That sounds spectacular! She will love it and all the adorable personal touches you added to the ring will make it that much more special!
Congratulations, and send her our way when she gets the ring!

You have put much thought into this proposal. She will love it … and I’m sure she’ll say yes! The ring is absolutely gorgeous! As a pet lover, I think the engraving is very sweet. The only negative about that is that Buddy will not always be around. Do you think that will make her heart ache or sing when Buddy is no longer part of your family? Just a thought… Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!
