I think the mermaid would look beautiful on a petite but curvy girl!

I also initially wanted mermaid.. in fact I was walking into every bridal store and checking out ONLY mermaid gowns.. then i started flipping through a catalogue and saw a real princess style ball gown.  That was it.  I was sold.  Its actually similar to your pic, sweet heart neckline and high waist, just that mine has tiers and lace.  I think deep down young first, time brides often want that princessy feel on their wedding day and the ball gown does exactly that.  I also find the mermaid more party-ish and sexy than reverent and elegant so I guess it really boils down to what you wedding day is to you and how you want to feel.  No matter which you choose the man who loves you will melt seeing you on that day 🙂

I’d go with the ballgown all the way!

GO MERMAID!! Mine is trumpet- so almost the same thing. I am 5’5 and 145 – I am curvy as well. You probably won’t be able to sit in it… just lift it a tiny bit then sit! That’s what they told me to do at the salon! 🙂
