@BeckyS0: It was sticker shock, that’s for sure, and after over a dozen WeddingWire reviews raved about how inexpensive it was. It was right on the beach, but an indoor venue so we were in the clear if it rained. If I suddenly get $10,000 for the wedding, they’re the first place I’m calling. Next would be the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.
The Old Courthouse is pretty. We could do Sunday or Thursday, maybe… Sunday brunch would keep it away from everyone’s work week.
The only problem is my dad’s family, who I’m trying to avoid but he’ll insist on inviting (and he’s paying) if we stay in the area.

@mepayne: oh my goodness- the botanical gardens are sooo gorgeous! My SO gave me my promise ring there with all my family after my college graduation. I ‘ve dreamed of getting married there since I first set eyes on the place; but ya, not for the heap of money they’re asking! Just keep looking at more untraditional places around the suburb metro-areas of Atlanta & I think you can find something at a reasonable rate! I’m thinking about my old haunts & will post again if I can think of anything else that might suit what you’re lookin for!

I love this thread. Not because of your frustration but because I’m struggling to find an outdoor/combo venue.
It makes my blood boil that suddenly since the event is a wedding the sticker price gets jacked up a few grand. SO FRUSTRATING.Was not expecting that twist.
