I’ve been avoiding everything wedding related for a few weeks (I just lurked and read threads, didn’t reply). I have been so upset over finding MY dress then have them tell me that it’s not available anymore. Plus with personal issues going on it just got me in a really bad funk.
But.. I’m better now! I’m back to looking at wedding stuff and excited again about it. I found 2 bridal shops locally that I plan to go stop by and see what they have and prices.
I was also looking online at different designer websites and I found out something very interesting..
David Bridal is a big knock off retail chain for bridal dresses. I’ve seen soooo many designer gowns that are almost identical to every dress I tried on at DB. I think it’s great in a way because you can get an ALMOST designer look alike for a fraction of the price. But at the same time it’s slightly sad because the designer ones are so much prettier hahahaha (but they are very close in comparison!)
I am wanting.. almost a MUST HAVE for me, the shiny bling detail on my wedding gown. So I came across this one dress yesterday that just made me want to jump up and down. It’s “Madelyn Marie” by Maggie Sottero.. it’s almost identical to the one I fell in love with at DB that they told me they no longer made 🙁
Problem is… it’s pricey! DB dress was priced at $549 — Maggie is priced at $1,200 according to the bridal shop (although I think it is cheaper for them since they’re retailing it out). But anywho..
I was wondering..
Does anyone or has anyone worn this dress!?! I would love opinions and suggestions. Thanks gals!
David Bridal (Dress I tried on and fell in love with that they told me 10 minutes after I was ready to order that they no longer could get it because they no longer carry it ::cries::)
And this is the Maggie “Madelyn Marie” that is almost identical except it has a prettier top, alittle more bling, and a corset back 😀 but also cost about a thousand more 🙁

I don’t know how much it would cost to ship from the UK, but here’s an 8

Ooh if only I could fit into a size 8! I wouldn’t be having as much trouble finding a dress lol
I’m a size 18 🙁
But thanks for the site! I’ll have to look around. The picture of the bride in this dress zooms in so nice that I can see the detail so much better. It’s so pretty!

That’s odd, it’s still available on their website! Looks like it only goes up to size 16 though, but you have till December, you could totally make the size 16 work by then I bet!

I don’t want to make myself sick trying to lose weight to fit into a size 16 just because its the size they have. Especially since their size 16 is not a size 16W (plus size) like I would need.
I rather frame my body now and worry about weight lost at alterations before the wedding (I am getting a corset dress, no matter what) haha

Gotcha, I didn’t realize the difference between a 16 and a 16W, I was thinking they’d be pretty close but guess I was wrong. And normally I’m totally with you on buying the dress that fits you then altering if necessary, it just sucks that they don’t have it in your size, it’s awful they let you try it on and everything before telling you! I’d try calling other Davids Bridals in the area and seeing if anyone has it in your size. I certainly didn’t mean to imply that you should make yourself sick!

I actually love the DB one more in its much more “understated”ness. Could you find it used somewhere?
