I’m just brainstorming and trying to figure out how my color scheme should come together for the wedding. Sorry for rambling. If anyone has any suggestions, I’d appreciate it.
I definitely want to incorporate purple. It’s my favorite color. Originally, my mom was horrified and said that purple dresses and decor would look like a funeral. I disagreed, but I though about compromise, and fell in love with the idea of adding blue and having sort of a jewel tone scheme – blues, purples, burgundy…
I was thinking of finding blue bridesmaid dresses and my venue coordinator suggested blue uplighting. Then the bouquets and centerpieces could have purples, white, cream colors. Maybe some purple and white round lanterns…. I was loving this vision.
Then I started shopping for bridesmaid dresses and found it hard to find a good shade of blue. I like several dresses at Alfred Angelo, and think their Colbalt is a nice shade of blue. But I am also drawn to Grape.
To complicate things, my mom came to the store and fell in love with Grape dresses! She has totally forgotten her hatred of purple and now thinks that I should forget blue altogether.
Well – now I have this blue/purple vision and I don’t know what to do with it. If I get the purple dresses, can I incorporate blue in the bouquets? I don’t even think I like any blue flowers. I was hoping for a fluffy carnation/rose/ranculus kind of look. I always tend to think blue flowers look fakey, but I could be wrong. How do blue hydrangeas look?
Or, should I forget blue and go with shades of purple? Would that be boring? Maybe make all the flowers white and cream with a little purple here and there? What about the blue uplighting I fell in love with? AHHHH!
I guess I have a lot of thinking to do.

I think all the colors together would be great!
What about blue shoes?… I could totally see the offbeat yet still formal look going together like that.
I don’t think you have to stick to a 2/3 color scheme at all!
Our colors are:
primary- Orange, Blue, Chocolate, & White
accent- Yellow & Green
I saw go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

@sparrowly: I say keep the blue. You can use it as an accent color. Use the blue uplighting. Maybe throw in some blue accents on the table decor. Blue details on the invites. Do a google search. There are tonssss of pictures of weddings with pretty much any color combination!

Check out Sophia Tolli’s dresses. They have a nice cobalt. We bought ours in the shades Burgandy and Aubergine which are dark purples/grapes
Here’s the style we got:

I think you can stick with the blue and purple color scheme. I like the idea of blue and purple uplighting together. If you love the purple Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, you could always do more white flowers in their bouquets. There are so many shades of purple flowers, I think you have plenty of non-blue flower options.

@runsyellowlites: That picture looks fantastic!
@M.Ruder: Thanks for the inspiration. I will check out those dresses.
@Baileyh: Oh! How pretty! I really love the centerpiece.
@Baileyh: I like the square vase!
The blue and purple uplighting look great in the pictures. Maybe I won’t be have to give up blue after all.
