I am contacting photogs and getting quotes, etc. The basic packaged that he quoted me included “All wedding day high-resolution images, color corrected for color balance, density and contrast on a DVD with print rights (Photographic Release provided)” but then stated that “Wedding day images posted to an online gallery for viewing and purchasing.” Does this mean I have to purchase the photos I paid him to take? So confused

It sounds like you’ll be getting them on a DVD. I’ve had friends where they are posted online for family and friends to view and also be able to purchase. I purchased some for a friend of mine off of her gallery in order to make a shadow box for her without her knowing I wanted the photos.

No, because you will already have a disc with printing rights. But other people (e.g. your family and friends) will be able to order from the online gallery, if the want to. For example, I purchased some of my friend’s wedding photos from her online gallery to make them into drink coasters as her housewarming gift.

I had an online viewing for other people and I got a disc with my images on and a print release.
AKA you can print them.

You may also want to order from their online gallery. They probably have access to custom sizes for less money than some re-print places may charge. Also, the quality of prints we received from ordering from our photographer’s website were better than the ones we printed ourselves from the DVD.
