stardustintheeyes:  I would do the same IN A HEARTBEAT. I’ve tried pitching the idea many times to Fiance but he loves watching sports too much for us to get rid of cable. If I were you though, I would absolutely do it.

stardustintheeyes:  When I moved in with my SO, he didn’t have cable, and I thought I couldn’t live without it and told him I would have it soon. But first, he introduced me to Netflix. That was three years ago, and I never had cable or missed it since then 🙂

I didn’t have cable for 9 years until I moved in with my now-husband almost a year ago. I miss not having cable. It’s such a time-suck.

I suggest you do it. Eff cable.

And I suggest checking out Dave Ramsey for the debt. He has a radio show and website. He’s church-y, but his advice is good.

stardustintheeyes:  I am a complete cable junkie. I’m afraid to say that I LOVE TV! In order to save some money for our October wedding I agreed to cancel our cable and subscribe to Netflix instead which saved me about $75 a month. I thought it would be terrible. I went on and on about how big of a sacrifice it was? Guess what? Don’t miss it at all! In fact I instantly found I was more productive with my time and I still watch tv almost nightly and have the occassional weekend marathon. It’s a great way to cut back!

We have been looking in to getting rid of cable, also, but my husband loves sports. We are looking at Sling TV for sports. Any bees know anything about Sling TV?

We’ve never had cable! We watch shows on cbs.com and abc.com and occasionally on the free version of Hulu. For older stuff and movies we use Amazon Prime (the only thing we pay for and we get free 2 day shipping as well).

I have cut cable for 2 years and don’t miss it one bit. Everything I need is on the internet.

stardustintheeyes:  we got rid of cable about six months ago and really haven’t missed it. Between Netflix and Hulu, we have plenty to watch. Definitely a good way to save money!

When Fiance and I move in together we plan on only using Netflix. I don’t watch much tv and most everything I do want to watch is already on Netflix. Other shows that aren’t we always manage to find on his laptop and then hook that up to the big screen really easily. I would definitely vote to nix it.

With the exception of when I lived in rurality, I’ve always just used antenna tv. Now with Darling Husband, we also have netflix. With both antenna and netflix, we have a good variety of on demand from netflix and live tv and local news with antenna. Cable is expensive!

Just to add: one of the tips often given for dealing with the sports channels loss is to go out to a bar… Which is actually counterproductive in saving money sometimes.

Netflix + Hulu + Apple TV = Winning combination.
