erika1101: Congratulations! Your wedding is far off, so I don’t think you really need to do anything until you’re 1 – 1.5 years out. Maybe to save yourself some headache, I would just make a tentative guest list so you have a good headcount. Then maybe you can research the average cost of a wedding for that headcount and start saving.
If you have a particular theme in mind and want to do some DIY stuff, that would be something you can do slowly until the date gets nearer.

Congratulations!! Your ring is so unique and beautiful! I got engaged on April 9th! It actually makes me feel so relieved that you aren’t planning on having your wedding until 2019. I’m planning on waiting until spring of 2019 and my friends and family are making me feel weird for not having it sooner!
Also I love the idea of a mad hatter theme, I wanted to have an Alice in Wonderland theme for my bridal shower

At this stage, I would just be thinking about how you are allocating your budget to aspects you want to prioritise, start playing with a tentative guest list and enjoy being engaged!
