So it finally happened! After dating for 4.5 years, living together for 1.5 years and adopting a dog together, he finally decided to put a ring on it!
The whole proposal was a complete surprise and it was perfect! We were spending a long weekend in New York and on the first day he suggested that we go to this cocktail bar he knows of in the West Village. So we hopped in a cab and I’ll admit he seemed a little nervous. When we got to the village we hopped out of the cab and started walking up this quiet little street with white Christmas lights wrapped around all the trees. (I am a huge sucker for Chistmas lights). The next thing I know he starts reminiscing about our journey together as a couple and I remember thinking why is he walking so slow? This is New York, buddy! And then he got down on his knee and I must have blacked out because I don’t remember anything else he said, but I know he cried and I cried and it was amazing. And he hired a photographer to capture the moment! So amazing.
We spent the rest of the night celebrating with food and wine and more wine! It was perfect. And for the waiting bees out there: I know how hard it is to wait, ESPECIALLY as people get engaged and married all around you. And I know this won’t make it any easier to hear NOW, but I PROMISE when your guy does propose you will be thankful for every day you had to wait because it will all seem totally worth it.
Please ignore the massive amounts of dog hair in the second picture!
