My boyfriend proposed while we were visiting his family for Thanksgiving! I suspected he might ask on the trip, but he still caught me off guard. He’d told me for months that we’d be getting a professional photo taken with his whole family while we were in town. But that was just a cover story to take me out, just the two of us. Instead of meeting his family at the studio, he drove me to a venue he’d picked out in advance and proposed. His family was back at the house setting up an engagement party.
I’d been hoping he’d propose on this trip, but I was still surprised by how he did it and the fact that he and his family had been planning for over a year. Our party was beautiful, and his family went out of their way to make us feel loved the whole week. Even my boyfriend (now fiance!) got a surprise; the next day, his stepfather presented him with paperwork to adopt him as an adult. When we marry, we’ll take their family name. The whole week had plenty of tears and love for both of us, lol. I’m over the moon about marrying my best friend, who loved me enough to put effort into surprising me, and joining such a supportive family.

2bmrsksk : Thank you! I’m a Gryffindor and a huge dork, so it fits, lol.
My FH is a Hufflepuff, so our wedding colors are going to be our combined House colors. I mentioned the idea to his mother in August 2018 and she used red, gold, and black for our engagement party (hence the cake colors).
