Not the most romantic story out there, and obviously in reality it happened in greater detail, but here goes:
My Fiance (!!!!) and I were talking tonight about when we’d like to get married, and he suggested Feb. 2012. When I told him I’d like at least a year to plan a wedding, he said to go ahead and start planning then. I told him I didn’t want to start planning without being engaged, and he said “why don’t we get engaged then?”. We had just started saving for my e-ring this week, and we were going to wait until we actually had the ring to be get engaged (May-July this year) but he didn’t see the point in waiting if we had a date set. So! Here we are, engaged without a ring!!
We’re going out tomorrow to buy a simple little stand-in ring for me to wear until we can afford the moissanite we had picked out together. When we can afford the ring, he’s proposing to me, with the whole down-on-one knee romantic traditional aspect. I told him it’s not necessary, but he’s adamant about it! We’re going to start telling our family tomorrow! I can’t believe it! I’m engaged!!

Congratulations!! I can’t wait to see your moissanite you guys pick out. Although, you don’t need a ring to be “officially” engaged.

Congratulations and happy planning =)

@CaraMia10: Thank you! And I know, but we both decided to get a stand-in just so I have something to wear on that finger. No real reason, it’s just something we both want 🙂

Congrats!! My sister didn’t have an engagement ring ever. Her relationship isn’t any different from mine. Can’t wait to see your e ring when you do get it.

Congrats! How exciting for you two! And ‘stand-ins’ can be fun, I actually know a few married ladies with kids who still buy stand-ins to change it up every once in a while (or when their official wedding band isn’t fitting, etc). They look pretty real, and from Herburgers or JCPenny’s they’re very reasonable.

@indibee: Thank you! I’m very excited, as you can imagine!! 🙂 I love the idea of stand-ins the way you described, it’d be really nice to have a couple different sets to wear depending on your mood!

Congrats! My husband proposed with a stand in and then we picked out the real rings together.
