AHHH, I’m no longer a Waiting Bee!
A little background: My new Fiance and I are high school sweethearts. We met when i was 16 and he was 17 at our small residential high school in Illinois (i.e., super nerdy boarding school). Fast forward several years, and I now work at said nerdy high school.
This year was my 5 Year Reunion, and so I was pretty pumped to see my old roommate and a slew of other old friends. Fiance lives 800 miles away, and his reunion was last year, so he wasn’t coming out.
Anyway, my old roommate/best friend had come to visit the school and look around on Friday shortly before I got off work, and she told me to text her and come find her when my boss said I could go, which is what I did.
When I went outside, I couldn’t find her! The only person I see is some dude sitting on the grass. After a double take, I realize that this person is actually my boyfriend. It did not occur to me right away why he was there, so I walked up to him and told him he wasn’t supposed to be there and asked why he wasn’t at work. He told me that he came all the way there, because he had something he wanted to ask me, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him.
Still a little in shock, I yell “Yes!!!!” and may or may not have jumped up and down a lot. I threw my arms around him and was hugging and kissing him, because I was so excited! It took me several minutes before I realized he hadn’t even put the ring on so I said, “Ooooh, can I wear it now?!”
Now, it might seem a bit odd that he proposed at my place of work and our old high school, but he actually popped the question in the same spot we had our first kiss so many years ago. My old roommate and he had been planning this for months, and she was hiding out with her camera to take pictures of our special moment. Our alma mater is an extremely special place for us, so I can’t imagine a better place or proposal. It was private and sweet and very Us!
Oh…and here’s the ring…
He picked it all out himself, and I freakin’ LOVE it!
