cheatham :  Congratulations, Bee! What a relaxing and thoughtful proposal. I’d love to see hand shots that include the side perspective of the basket. I’m curious about how high it sits, because it seems to create a lovely, smooth set of lines between the radiant cut and the flow into the side stones.

I really liked seeing the combination of wearing both platinum and yellow gold mixed in your first photo. That was always a concern of mine; I love yellow gold with my skin tone but think that the weight and color of platinum better suits diamonds and to take away from that or create a warmer tone to your stone would be a less preferred choice. Your original photo features both metals very nicely!

I really enjoyed seeing a radiant cut in the 5ct range; usually I see emerald cuts or very, very high set rounds.  It looks like a radiant gives the sparkle of a stone with more facets, rather than the mirror flashes of a stepcut, without sitting too high or feeling too bulky on the hand. Was that your preferred cut or did your Fiance pick well? How do you like the feel, and the performance?

cheatham :  I thought it  might be coral or plankton but I couldn’t tell and water distorts things so much it could have been fish. The ocean is beautiful but scary, lol. Pretty picture, but things beneath the water scare me, lmao

Judging for how OP “led” her post on an anonymous forum is insane lol I’m sorry, but isn’t a lot of the point in posting on here being able to brag without judgement? Her ring is amazing and freakin huge. She clearly can’t go around IRL shouting, “5ct’s right here!” so, why not do it on here? Goodness gracious

Have you thought about what type of wedding band you’ll be wearing with it?? I have a 4 carat emerald ring I’m having difficulty pairing a band with based on the low basket.

OP: Your ring is gorgeous and elegant.

On judgement: I’m a happy wearer of a small diamond. I reserve the right to share its prices and specs, in general, to dispel the notion that just because my husband and I are high earners that we must somehow buy a large ring. To be clear though, we are CERTAINLY not in the leagues that would allow us to drop 100k+ on a ring without severely impacting our kids’ savings or overall financial well being.

By the same token, the OP here should feel free to post specs of her large ring! Clearly, OP and her fiancé can easily afford this. Folks in finance-related fields in NY tend to do pretty well for themselves, where a good year’s bonus could run into multiple millions.

SO if you don’t like it, well, keep that opinion to yourself because it just makes you seem petty.

*sees post about a 7ct ring*

*sees over 100 replies*

*grabs popcorn*

….. this thread was predictable. Congrats OP, enjoy your ring it’s beautiful. For the wedding band I’d go for a simple plain platinum band.
