I love it the way it is. But if you feel like you’d regret it if you didn’t, than do it. Maybe start looking at bands and decide if you think the ring will match better with a band/claw or rounded prongs.

lilacandjune:  Um, I think we’re ring twins!! I didn’t realize there was a difference in prongs, now I’m wondering if I should do the same! Too be honest, I never even noticed until now….

I love it! But I will admit, claw prongs on an oval would look amazing. I love claw prongs but the jeweller is doing round prongs for me bc my bf prefers round prongs and I think it depends on the setting and over all look he wants acheived with the ring, he doesnt think claw prongs would suit the delicate design we want and I agree. But again, I love love love claw prongs especially with ovals! So pretty – entirely up to you to bring it up!

My 2 cents: the claw prongs are too great a contrast with the oval shape. They don’t really “go” together. But it IS personal preference!

keep as is. claw prong would distract from that beautiful stone.

lilacandjune:  I googled claw prongs because I wasn’t sure what they were and this picture came up:

…..If this is what you have in mind, then I think it would be wrong, wrong, wrong on your lovely oval. The claw prongs draw attention away from the center stone. My advice is to leave your GORGEOUS ring as is!

If this is NOT the look you’re talking about, then never mind!

Your ring is gorgeous! However, I would make the jeweler change out the prongs. You guys asked for them over and over again and if you want the jeweler to be held responsible you need to bring it up sooner than later.

It took your breath away when you first saw it- why let such a tiny detail ruin it for you?

Your ring is literally breathatking! I think the asnwer to this lies in the overall shape you want your ring to look. Forget about the actual prongs shape: think bigger (if I may suggest;)) If you put claw prongs on this it will definitly have amore cushion-y look, whereas these prongs highlight the round curves. I think either would look great but, unless you wanted it to look more square I would leave it as is. Congratulations, it’s gorgeous.

It looks great as is, but I prefer claw prongs too. I think you should just ask, seeing as it’s being re-sized anyway.
