Hi Bees, sorry I’m a bit late with this post! My fiance (I love saying that word) and I got engaged while we were away in late August, early September….
We were on holidays in England – my boyfriend grew up in there so we were visitng friends… It was freezing and rainy from the day we landed, but on the first sunny day he made me breakfast in bed (I should have known something was up). We spent the afternoon at a castle with another couple…. it was so lovely, we had been there the last time we were in England – it’s my favourite castle, it has the most beautiful gardens and gounds. My boyfriend kept saying we had to be somewhere else later but wouldn’t tell me where…
Then he whisked me away to a little village where he had rented a little row boat. It was really sweet, I’ve always loved the idea of a romantic row boat tour – just the two of us 😉 We got in and started down the river – I sat in the back with the best view of him and the scenery as he took the oars and rowed us down the river. It was adorable because at first he couldnt get the hang of rowing and we almost crashed! We’re traveling down the river and then it happend….
He stops rowing, pulls in the oars, looks at me and says “I wasn’t nervous before”, I was kinda confused… then I realized what he meant as he (very carefully) got up, pulled a little wooden box out of his pocket and gently came towards me,
He gets down on both knees, and says how much he loves me, that his life is complete with me and he would be so happy if he could spend the rest of his life with me… and then “Will You Marry Me?” (To be honest there may have been more to his speech but I was in shock and even though I mentally thought to take it all in I may have missed some bits)
I said “OF COURSE” with a big grin and some tears!
Then, he presented me with the most beautiful diamond solitare ring – its just perfect!
We had a very nice romantic kiss and were both so happy!! All of the sudden, several swans appeared and floated around us!! It was magical!!
I’ve always loved fairly tale stories and Nicholas Sparks novels so this suits us just perfectly… and no, he didn’t plan it!
That evening he had a big party planned with all our friends waiting to congratulate us at a nice country pub/resturant where we had dinner and a nice bottle of champagne to celebrate. It was very special and I got to show off my ring 😉
We are so thrilled!! Now, the wedding planning begins!!
