SO and I have talked about marriage for a while now. He initally told me that he would be proposing this month, but as the days increased, I no longer believed it. He even spoke with me about wanting to change the month of engagement because he wanted to wait until the weather was warmer.
For Valentines day, he made me a scrapbook with photos of our relationship past to present. The last page was a blank picture frame with a fill in the blank date and a caption that read “The day we got engaged”. I thought it was happening then, but alas, it was not.
Fast forward to yesterday (my birthday) and I still was not convinced anything was happening because the day started out normally. It wasn’t until I got home from work to find the apartment clean as whistle, and there was a bouquet of flowers on the bed with a beautiful card. Inside the card, he wrote about how much he cares for me and how much he loves me and *hint* how we should take more pictures together! I thought it was super sweet!
He gets home from work and tells me how hungry he is and that we’re going to dinner. He lets me know that dinner is at a mystery location and that it was a surprise, so he blindfolded me. We drove around for what felt like FOREVER, but little did I know this was all just a game to throw me off track! We end up at this location (and the amount of driving we had done made me think we were far from home). I was so wrong about everything! He led me out of the car to what I thought would be our dinner spot. He held my hands as he gave a small speech and afterward he told me to discard the blindfold. After I took off the blindfold, there he was down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I believe I shouted YES (although I had to ask him in the car and make sure I actually said it). It took a minute for us to even put the ring on because we both just started hugging, and kissing, and crying!
He ended up proposing in the downtown area of where we live. We made a few pit stops and told our friends and family (much to my surprise, my family already knew because he made them aware of his intentions). Finally, we had dinner at this local Italian place, where we split a salad and a pizza. After dinner we went home and he had chilled champagne glasses and picked up champagne from the store earlier prior to my knowledge! We toasted as he sang me happy birthday with a trick candle lit cake from our local bakery (chocolate cake with raspberry filling) and gave me presents! I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
Now to the ring bling! This is my great grandmothers ring circa 1931 (could be older). I thought it was from the 40’s but I was wrong. It’s so beautiful! Here’s my vintage beauty!
