Over the past couple of months, I’ve gone from being confident in my dress choice to completely hating it. It’s mostly the crumb catcher neckline I’ve grown to dislike, because in pictures, I feel that it looks a bit too “costume-y.” Yet, I haven’t even received my dress yet and I’ve gone so far as to go try others on while waiting.
I thought I fell in love with another dress (a tulle ballgown), but I couldn’t find it for a reasonable price. Then, I started looking on recycledbride.com for something else that caught my eye and saw a satin dropped-waist ballgown that is similar to mine without the neckline I hate and found it on David’s Bridal (Oleg Cassini) for under $400. It was a dress I saw on another bee and thought it looked wonderful on her, so I ordered it.
WHY I ordered another satin drop-waist ballgown while I’m still waiting for mine to come in to see if I can fall in love with it again… I may never know.
What I DO know is I started a new birth control this month, which has been making me CRAZY. I’m PMS-ing like mad, I feel gross, fat and unattractive, which is not helping me feel confident about ANY dress choices, and I just feel generally insane.
I’m normally a very practical person, but all practicality has gone out the window with this dress thing.
Meanwhile, I’m too embarrassed to tell anyone I know that I’ve ordered another dress. I’m just waiting to see which one I like better.
Here’s my original dress:
And here’s my “new” dress:

I love both, but the first is special in some way to me, I think it’s the detailing/beading and how it goes around the back.

@memorialbride13: Thanks. The good news is if I wind up falling in love with my original dress, I can return the David’s Bridal one, which I can’t do with my original dress.

They are both very lovely. Seriously, both are gorgeous and classic gowns. But they are so similar. Even so, I like your first dress better. I wonder if you could just get the crumb catcher altered to be less pleated and sticky-up.

Now, as I look at these pictures side by side, I like my original dress again. Holy Jeebus… I need to just take a step back and stop being so crazy!!

I like the details of the first dress better, and it looks amazing on you. I don’t think the crumbcatcher looks costume-y at all! Of course, mind had a crumbcatcher too, which I didn’t think I would like, but it does make a lovely detail in pictures.

I like both, but I hate the belt on the second one. I think it looks really odd, the belted natural waist/dropped waist skirt combo. When they both come in, see which one you like best… It’s your opinion that matters most. Also, I don’t usually like crumb catchers, but I do like yours. I think it’s more subtle than many others, not costume-y at all. It’s hard to say without seeing you in the second dress, but I would say stick with #1. Hopefully by the time your second dress gets in your BC will have leveled out and you can make a decision you feel confident with. hehe

I’m not normally a fan of the crumb catcher, so when I read your post without looking at the pics, I figured I wouldn’t like the original dress. Surprise — I totally do. I think your original gown looks great on you and it just has that little something extra — the second dress just seems really plain to me. I’m sure you’ll be happy with whatever you decide, but stop looking for now and wait for your originaly dress to come in before you make any other decisions.

I think I like the first one better. It makes you look fantastic and the details are rather simple actually, but just enough. I like the neck line.
But, you know the story – at the end of the day, you need to be comfortable and feel beautiful. I think you’ll look great in either.

I like the original dress. I think the second dress is plain in comparison to the first one.

I think the first dress is beautiful! It looks amazing on you and it doesn’t look costume-y at all!! I think the BC is getting to you! lol. Like PP said try the new one on when you get it and if you still like the first one see what your options are on trying to fix it to what you like. Good luck!!

@csteen85: Is it possible to have the orginal dress you feel in love with altered to a sweetheart neckline, as opposed to a crumb catcher?
Since you ordered both dresses now, I would just try them both on to see which one I liked the best once the second one arrives from recycledbride.com. Can you try on the second dress you ordered from recycledbrides.com in a local bridal salon?
I understand being indecisive, I had a hard time making a decision, as well, and occasionaly I still second guess myself. Birth control pills made me very emotional, especially when I first started taking them. It takes a while to get adjusted to the hormones once you start taking them, then it takes a while to get adjusted after you get off of them.

I absolutley love your first dress! I don’t think the top is to ‘costum-y’ at all. The second one is just ‘meh’ for me.

First dress, definitely!!!

I love your first dress! The crumb catcher is actually my favorite part of it. The second dress looks very plain.
