So you can tell from the title i’m a plus sized girl…..a 30 to be exact. I got engaged back in the middle of June, and my mom immediately started on the dress search. She emailed me some pics of some dresses she liked and i sat in front of the computer with my mouth drooped open. They were the ugliest things i’ve ever seen….they looked like something an old lady would wear, i shuttered at the thought of walking down the aisle in anything like this. I told my mom just because i’m fat doesn’t mean i can’t look fabulous on my wedding day. I knew finding a dress wouldn’t be easy, or even fun. I found a bunch online but opted to go to David’s Bridal and see what i could find and hopefully try something on. My consultant picked out the perfect dress. Its true, i was limited to what i could try on because their plus sized section isn’t that great….but the dress she picked was perfect….amazing, and fit me perfectly. So i’m excited because i’ve got less then 6 weeks till the big day and i can’t wait for my dad to walk me down the aisle and hand me off to my hubby-to-be. I hope this helps any plus sized girls who are scared and nervous of the whole “wedding dress” process…because if i can do it, anyone can.

@Kanebaby: Cute! I like all the detailing, that’s really pretty!

@Kanebaby: Sorry, I would ditch the jacket. It looks a bit matronly.

You look beautiful in that dress! I am currently in a size 20 right now and not real pleased with myself and have started WW, but I told everyone there wouldn’t be any fun dress shopping til I lost some weight and it was depressing. You did make me feel a lot better about it by posting this!

I think you look fantastic! I know from shopping with my sister (size 24) for Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses how frustrating it can be to find shops that offer wedding dresses and Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses in plus sizes. It made me want to open my own shop because I was so upset for her!! I’m glad you found the dress of your dreams and had a positive experience! You look stunning in your dress!

@Ticktock I like the bolero….i am in my mid 40’s so i’m not worried about looking matronly, but i don’t really care for strapless gowns even tho i do love this gown. Plus i HAVE to wear a bra and a strapless bra doesn’t work with these puppies….lol.

I think the dress looks great on you, and I’m so happy that turned out to be a positive experience for you! I’ve been watching SYTTD Big Bliss, and it breaks my heart to see some of those girls so upset because no gowns fit them. Thank you for sharing your story!

I think you look great and you should be proud to walk down the aisle to your hubby to be; and you certainly don’t look like you are in your mid 40s 🙂
