- Wedding: September 2013
We went and picked out bridesmaids dresses today. I had to fight tooth and nail to get my ladies in the color that I wanted. I have a specific vision of a very neutral, pale wedding. Blush, ivory and gold. For hours, everyone kept pulling out peacock or navy, or emerald dresses and saying like, “Oh this color looks so good on me”. Finally, I had to get all hostile and say, “You know what, when you get married I will wear peacock, but I want champagne. Yes I know you think it is to similar to my dress, and I know you think it washes you out, BUT THIS IS MY WEDDING!” Grrrrr, then one dress looks amazing on one girl and the other is pouting so bad her lower lip is pushed out like a baby’s. I never thought it would be so hard : / I let them each pick a style that flattered them best.
Also why is everyone so darn opinionated? I showed them stuff I’ve made for centerpieces and they just shoot me down. It’s not like I’m asking, “Hey should I use these?” I am showing them what I have already made and am planning to use. Well, I just spent the afternoon re-doing centerpiece items after all the bad reactions.
Now that I’ve experienced “unwanted opinion overload”, I now know the right answer when a bride shows you anything for her wedding. You should say, “Do you love it?” and if she says yes, then you say, “Oh, then it’s perfect!” I’m to the point where I’m just not going to tell or show people anything anymore. They can get an invite and then see it all at the wedding. I’m on my own : (
