Haha, no I wasn’t “Waiting.” We’ve been engaged since November, but were having serious trouble finding a venue in Tucson that was within our budget and didn’t look like a transient park or the setting of a wild west show (worse, in my opinion).
Little did we know, the perfect place was just 30 minutes away. We saw, we met the coordinator, we loved. And now I actually feel like this wedding might just happen!
Now we have a place and a date – St. Patrick’s Day 2012!!! – and I can properly begin to panic about the infinite details that are ahead.
I would love the opinions and ideas of the Bees for an understated SPD wedding. (I can already picture my mother scouring the stores for cartoon leprechauns and shamrock glitter/confetti, NOOOOOOO!!!!) Before we set the date I was leaning toward vintage-inspired a black and white affair with green and copper accents, so I’m hoping to still do that…
But yeah, any inspiration you can throw my way would be greatly appreciated. I’ll start:
Celtic Knot Save-The-Date Cards (We’re tying the KNOT, get it??) Haha.
Corned Beef and Cabbage as one of the menu options. Need other options that aren’t beef…
Mini Guiness floats for after dinner, mmm!

I got engaged this past St. Patty’s Day! Whoop whoop for us. Congrats on finding a venue! That’s the hardest part (and the dress) imo!

Hi date twin!!! I’m doing understated St Patty’s Day!!!
Some things I’m doing:
At the appetizer station (I’m doing food stations) I’m having corned beef sliders (I was scared cabbage might be too overwhelming a smell)
My cake will be VERY understated St Pat’s. I really like this one with the white shamrocks, but I don’t want fondant so still thinking on this:

My favors will be the little witch kettles that you see around halloween only I am going to fill them with candy gold coins and wrap a rainbow ribbon around them with a little Irish saying attached.
My champagne glasses.. I really like these:

My linens are 2 shades of green and cream
My bouquets will include bells of ireland
I am looking into having some pots of clover
My candy buffet will have mostly green candies and the mini hersheys, I may have custom wrappers made with our names and date and a celtic shamrock (ebay.. pretty cheap!!)
I’m still unsure if I’m doing a guest book or wish tree or what but will likely have something celtic on it or green….
I’m wearing green shoes and some green in my jewelry and fiance will wear a green shirt/tie (or one or the other)
I will play some celtic music (The Prodigals) at the reception.
We’re doing a JOP wedding so this is all just the reception.
OH and my venue is getting me a keg of green beer !!!
PS can you share your STD? Do you have a pic? I love your idea:)

@CindyRelly:
Ooooh! Love the cake and champagne glasses! Here is the front runner for the cake:

But i think this is cute too, looks a little celtic:

My venue is still finding out if they can do a keg of green beer. I’m not very excited about my menu options. I mean I LOVE corned beef and cabbage, but the other non-red-meat option is just grilled chicken and some kind of rice. BOORRRRRINNGGG.
Definitely want to incorporate Bells of Ireland in the bouquet. Love it! Though I’m pretty sure that detail will be lost of pretty much everyone, lol.
I actually never ended up finding celtic knot Save-The-Date Cards that I liked, nor do I posses the talents to create them. My STD are just colorblock, different shades of green with white lettering, made on Publisher. Blah. I haven’t even printed em yet, haha.
I’m walking down the aisle to my aunt playing When Irish Eyes are Smiling on the violin. My grandpa used to sing that song to us all the time =)
And I think we’re gonna do a Celtic handfasting ceremony! I really love the symbolism of it. AND our officiant’s last name is IRELAND, and he married my parents!
I love all your ideas and I’m sooooo jealous you seem so much more together. All I have are ideas floating around my head!!
