@Earlybride: I’m a bride and neither me OR my Fiance are gonna be dancing.  We… just don’t. wellllll…. I do, but I’m pretty sure me dancing up against him probably wouldn’t be appropriate! LOL!  Heck, I don’t think we’re even gonna do a “first dance” for anyone.

seriously, though, don’t worry about it!  There’s no rule saying you HAVE to dance!

All I can think of with lorezapam is Sixteen Candles. Don’t take anything unless you know how it will affect you!!! πŸ™‚

But yeah — I am NOT thrilled with dancing in front of everyone. I’m taking lessons, but I don’t know if that’s going to help the jitters!

In all honesty, many weddings I’ve been to the bride and groom danced for a max of 15 mins on and off. So many guests to talk to, to greet, to thank, etc. that there wasn’t much time! But if you know you’ll be having more time to dance then I agree with Noodlelurv and just get a few basic steps down. Even just a 2 step and add a little bit of your own flair. It goes a long way!

Make sure to have the latest top 40 and you’ll get everyone on the dance floor.  No one will care if you can only do the robot or can just tab you feet.  @ a wedding everyone will get up and move.

Also you may want to take a shot.

Get a few drinks in you and you’ll be good. πŸ˜‰ Haha just kidding…

kissa2727 is absolutely right. You will be visiting with guests, too, so it’s not like you will be on stage. πŸ™‚

I’m not a huge dancer, either, and I had a great time at my wedding dance simply because I was so happy and excited to be married. Just relax and copy the people around you!! Trust me: No one is judging because most of your guests won’t be able to dance, either! πŸ™‚

Alcohol builds confidence. Lol. I’m a crappy dancer but I don’t really care and plan to dance anyway. With lots of champagne.

@Earlybride: I’m the same way, only worse…I freakin’ took dance lessons for 20 years and I cannot  “find my funk!” I can’t freestyle dance to save my life. I have a few friends who can get down, so I will be takings lessons from them. Get a trusted friend who has the funk and make a night out of dance lessons!

My fiance and I CANNOT dance at all! We are horrible dancers, totally off beat, and look ridiculous lol… But that’s part of the fun! We are going to be surrounded by friends and family who love us, so we’re not too worried.

My advice would be if you are really uncomfortable the day of, and don’t want to dance, that’s perfectly fine! I agree with everyone else, you will be so busy talking to people and mingling, no one will really notice.

@Earlybride, you took the words out of my mouth! I’m the exact same way as you!! I can’t dance…just cant, and all of my fiance’s family are big dancers, and their good. So they act like im crazy to when I say I just dont like it. I’m so nervous about dancing at the reception, its honestly the only thing im stressed about! you wont be the only bride not dancing a lot cuz I don’t think I will be either lol πŸ™‚

My thought is that if you have a wide dress it will hide your feet so no one will know what you are doing under there anyway πŸ™‚

I’m with you, I hate dancing. I opted out of it, but just made there be no dancing at the wedding. I thought that if it was all dancing, people would try to get me on the dance floor and I’d be miserable at my own wedding.

I would just stick to mingling if you’re not comfortable dancing. If someone tries to pull you out, say that you’ll be there soon but first you want to say hello to a certain friend or relative. You never know though, you might get some sort of happy, excited rush and want to dance!
