Honestly? I would postpone the wedding and save up even if it meant a long engagement. Getting married on a morning talk show with a bunch of other couples doesn’t sound fun to me at all.

But I’m getting married in Vegas in 8 weeks by Elvis, which is probably the height of tacky to some brides. So if you are truly excited about it, then it’s wonderful that you were selected!

Just make sure that this is what you truly want and you aren’t just doing it because of finances or because your Fiance thinks it’s a good idea. You get one wedding day and you both need to be happy with how it plays out.

How exciting! being married is the most important thing, you can always have a big anniversary party in a few years if you fancy it. Good luck

I think it’s a great money saver, and if it’s more about the marriage than the wedding for you – great!

But if you’re the type who’s always dreamed about her wedding, you may have some regrets.

As a PP said though, you can always have an anniversary celebration or vow renewal later!

ladyvictoria:  If you and your Fiance are excited about this, then great. Not gonna rain on your parade.

BUT you say, “all of the family that can’t make it down to NYC will be able to watch it on TV!”

Be very prepared for family not being thrilled about just watching it on TV, especially if they have to sit through X number of other couples getting married to get to the few minutes featuring you and your Fiance.

TheGridMonster:  +1 exactly. I can’t imagine not having my family all there for my wedding. OP, I’m glad you are happy anyways.

ladyvictoria:  I’m glad you are happy, then! And that is very thoughtful of your co-workers to do that. I was just concerned that maybe you were going this route because of your Fiance or because of money, but it sounds like this is truly the wedding you want to have, so congrats!

It will be a fun story to tell your grandchildren, for sure.

ladyvictoria:  haha I always DREADED the idea of a wedding! I loved the idea of marriage, but not the wedding. Too much stress & money. We ended up doing it basically out of guilt… so I totally understand being happy to let others pay for it and figure out the details!

Good luck! 🙂
