Congratulations!!!!!!!!!

If she doesn’t want to wear a suit, I don’t think she should wear a suit. Ultimately, whatever you are both comfortable in will be best, I think – otherwise you’ll look uncomfortable in the pictures. 🙂

Welcome to WB. 🙂

ETA: If she’s just afraid a suit will look too masculine, show her this article: http://offbeatbride.com/2009/07/butch-wedding-suits

What about a beautiful and classy IVORY/WHITE Women’s pant suit and jacket! =) Could always put your own twist of colors/etc with it!

I think that would be LOVELY!

CONGRATS!!! =)

@Karen91602:  “Would pants and a button down shirt be to laid back to wear or informal?”  That’s what Ellen did, and I thought she looked beautiful and feminine.

Would she wear a skirt? Or does she prefer pants?

She could take inspiration from Ellen Degeneres’ outfit- a sheer blouse, vest and pants:

For other ideas google Eileen Fisher. She makes very clean lined pieces of linen, cotton silk etc.Her line is pricey but you could get the same look.

@julies1949: I love Ellen’s outfit! I was going to suggest it as well!

That sounds really beautiful! I think nice pants and a shirt would be totally OK. I also loved Ellen’s outfit and thought it worked really well. Would she be open to wearing a long skirt? My Fiance is similar; she won’t wear a dress or a tux, but she’d like to wear a skirt, so that might be an option.

@julies1949: I think any suit like Ellen wears would be great.  I’m not even gay and I think she’s so beautiful and sexy!

That said OP, I don’t think you can go wrong if you wear something that is comfortable and “you”.  Don’t worry about what other people will think, they are there to support you and your Fiance.  Just enjoy your day and wear what works for you.

Someone I know on another board who is in a similar situation is going for this outfit:

We went to a men’s Wearhouse and while it was a little weird/awkward, I got to try stuff on and realized I really liked the pants and vest idea! They tried to sell me on a jacket too, but no thanks… if you’re looking to dress it up more, you can always add a tie or a fancier shirt underneath, too.  I LOVED my pants and vest (got them custom made on etsy), and I think that as long as the two of you are comfortable, whatever you’re wearing is “appropriate”. It’s your wedding and you set the bar!

Thanks, everyone else, for your kind words about our wedding! I wanted to write for the bee becuase I didn’t see other people out there like me… reading things like this makes me so glad I did it (/am doing it)!

@seahorse: Have you started your recaps yet? I used to read your blog pretty faithfully, but I got overwhelmed by the blog just before our wedding and never had the energy to go back and try to catch up, hahaha…. I think I’m going to go stalk you again now. 🙂
