So my parents got divorced when I was 2 and we had no contact with my dad (everyone liked it better that way). In high school, I found out through my aunt (dad’s sister) that I had a half sister! We didn’t have any contact until I moved away for grad school when I sent her a blanket I had from my paternal grandmother – I introduced myself and gave her my contact info if she ever wanted to be in touch. We emailed briefly but never really talked much
Years passed, we became Facebook friends, she had a daughter, and we started building a relationship. About a year ago, my dad had a serious heart attack and she called to let me know. We started talking and texting on a regular basis and started really having a relationship.
Last May, our dad passed away and we now have no barriers to really having a relationship (he would not have been ok with it). My sister had another baby in August and the baptism is this Saturday and WE ARE GOING TO MEET THEM!!!!!!!!
I’m 38 years old and am FINALLY going to meet my sister and my 2 nieces. I am sooooooo excited!!

That’s awesome! I was just down in Houston for business about a month and sitting in the hotel lobby waiting for friends and two older ladies, 75 and 80 I think they said, asked me to take a picture of them. They told me that they has just found out they were half sisters and they were really happy. I thought it was a really cute story and I bet you two will be like that!
