If you can afford it have fresh flowers throughout the apartment will make a huge difference.  Look great and will make the space smell awesome.

See about preparing your own food or having family or friends help, that would save money on catering. Are you doing alcohol? Get a keg and cheap/bulk wine. Have you be to 2000 Dollar Wedding? She has some great ideas over there!

I think you should take into consideration the lighting – will this be during the day? Does your apartment get a good amount of natural light? Or is it in the evening? Do you want more of a low-lights, candle-lit feel? That could add a lot of “decor” to the room without cluttering it up. Consider removing large furniture that isn’t necessary for the day.

Boston market actually offers catering packages with beautiful serving sets, china and attendants, very reasonable. Not sure if this was the way you were going but it would be a great option.  Long table for sure, lots of candles, maybe draping/swagging for the entrance way of the room. Florals in satellite containers. I just love the idea and the intimacy of it all.

That’s awesome!  I wish I could do this.  I’m curious on how it turns out and the inspiration you receive!  Best of luck to you!!!

I don’t know what your colors are but I saw on a show once how they decorated with antique roses and cherry blossom branches. The cherry blossom was gorgeous and very full so it covers more space for less. I don’t know how expensive they are but if you talk to a florist I am sure they could help you find a substitute or something to fit your budget. The candles that are fire-less are safe so you could put them all over and not worry about anyone or anything catching on fire! Ipod player for music!

DIY- I am making trivia cards to have on the tables at our reception… Half the questions are about my fiance and I and half of them are generic wedding trivia. You could set up mix matched picture frames with pictures of the two of you. Or since it is a small group of close friends and family you can use pictures of them with ya’ll. If you have your mother’s or future mother in-law’s old wedding dress you could put them on mannequins to show case them.

Signature cocktails are good! You could have 2 different ones as options and name them after you and your fiance or something that you guys are into. Maybe you can find someone (not a guest) who would be willing to serve drinks for everyone. And for desert you could take 2 or 3 small cakes like 5 to 8 inch cakes and make them all different flavors.

I agree with getting rid of extra furniture or anything on the walls.. the less busy background the more your wedding decorations will standout.

This probably sounds *really* lame, but there have been 2 apartment weddings on Gossip Girl. Sure, one of the apartments was super fancy, but I thought they were both decorated really well – it looked lovely and intimate. If you can handle the idea of watching Gossip Girl for inspiration it might be something to look out for? 🙂

I think flowers make any room look so special.
