So I decided to make my own bouquets using Gerber daisies in pink, white, and pale yellow. They turned out like this:
I love gerber daisies, they’re so happy and playful not to mention really inexpensive!
I’ve always loved the super soft feminine look of peony and rose bouquets, today while I was at michaels I started playing with the flowers (this is why I should NOT be allowed in craft stores alone, I could stay there all day!) and I put together some soft pink peonies and ivory roses. It was so frilly and girly! Then I got the idea in my head of “I only get to have a wedding once, I should get what I really like”. Am I being ridiculous? What do you ladies think? Here’s an inspiration pic of the other flowers:
I’ve already bought the daisies and I’ve made the Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquets. I’ve probably spent about $35 on the flowers so far. It would probably look silly if I did the Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquets in daisies and mine in peonies wouldn’t it?

I also love the look of peonies and roses in bouquets. So you don’t lose the money you’ve spent on the peonies, I like the idea of using them for the BMs and doing roses and peonies for you. To keep a cohesive thread, maybe you could put a couple gerber daisies in yours too? I’m not sure how that would look but it’s just a thought.

Both are nice, don’t worry . But if you would only lose $35, go with the flowers that you *really* love. Well that’s what I would do. (If there’s a big loss of money, then probably not the best idea to change.

@hardtoconcentrate: Is it common for the bride to have such a different bouquet than the BM’s? I could add in a few white gerbers to keep it all together and the ribbons around the stems would be the same (chocolate with turquoise accents) it wouldn’t look silly?

@SunnyBunny: I don’t think it would look silly at all – I think it would be beautiful! The bride and bridesmaids don’t always have the same flowers, so I wouldn’t worry too much about that.

You can do different bouquets for yourself and your BMs. I love peonies so much too. I wanted a brooch bouquet, which wouldn’t really work with them, so my BMs are getting peonies instead. So at least they are in my wedding, even if I’m not physically carrying them. Some of my “likes” are all over the place so I say I have my actual wedding which has golds and jewel tones, and my alter ego wedding which has soft pinks and greens. Of course my alter ego wedding is only playing out in my head haha. Soooo long story short, you can totally get away with it, and I think you should do it. 🙂

I had an entirely different bouquet than my BM’s (no similar colours or flowers, theirs were fresh flowers, mine were dried…), and it looked fine. If you love peonies, have a peony bouquet! I love their ruffled, feathery look. Gerbera daisies are pretty but they’re definitely more structured and geometric flowers, and it sounds like you’re more in love with a softer concept for your own bouquet.

NO ONE will sit there and notice that your flowers are different to the bridesmaids.
Funnily enough that’s one of the last things I notice at a wedding, and I lurrrve flowers.
Go with both! Be greedy!!
