steny03 :  Have you or your husband ever looked to see if you can find out anything about the history of your house or the mountain pass?

zzar45 :  Is your roommate still there? And if she was there after you, did she ever see or hear the old lady after you left? Any history connected with your building?

L606 :   softdrink77 :  crustyoldbee :  I’m not sure if she kept coming past, I didn’t really keep contact with that roommate as we were roomates more than friends.  All of your shocked reactions are reminding me how weird it was! It was like 4 years ago now and I think I had blocked it out until this post! The thing that made it more strange was the pavement she walked along didn’t really have anything on it, the ground floor was the garages for my building and the other side was the backs of some houses so it was basically just a carpark and not much reason for anyone to be there!

crustyoldbee :  We did! The mountain pass was named after a Native American Chief, who had lead some rebellion or raids throughout the southwest and Great Plains, but nothing ever occurred at that spot that was ever documented. Definitely not a known area of a massacre or other tragedy.

Our house was owned by a prison guard, who was the first owner of it. He was divorced, had a child, and sold the house to us when he retired and moved to Texas. He was a bit of a trash hoarder in his back yard. Took us three dumpsters to remove all his garbage. We did find some interesting things such as three camping tents, with some of them having coaxial cables running to them. A mattress that had been allowed to rot to just the springs were left. A woman’s shoe, tons of dog collars. In one corner the beer cans were 2 feet thick.  He was known to be a little eccentric, but not violent.

I had some creepy things happen when I was a child, some of the memories are a bit foggy now but there’s a couple that stuck in my memory.

Once, when I was about 6, I woke up and found my doll’s throat slit. It was a water baby, so it is possible I suppose that I had torn it somehow and not noticed. My dolls had a mini bunk bed and a cradle, and I’d tuck them in every night, this one slept on the top bunk and was fine when I put it down the night before. I was so upset, I still remember screaming when I found it, I remember my mom was in the kitchen making eggs Benedict and that my parents seemed kinda freaked out too. My only sibling is my little sister, she was 3 at the time and probably didn’t cut my doll, but I guess anything’s possible.

After that, my dad took me to buy a new doll, this was super exciting for me and I remember taking forever picking one: I chose one with a soft body and plastic head and extremities, I felt that would be less likely to be cut. The first night I had the new doll, I slept with her in my bed because I was still shaken and was too scared to put any dolls back in the bunk bed. I woke up in the middle of the night and my doll’s head was covered in blood. I freaked out, my mom came running and she looked me all over trying to see where the blood was coming from. I was not cut or bleeding from anywhere, my clothes and bedding had no blood on them at all, it was just on this dolls head. Thinking about it now, I may have had a nosebleed or maybe bled from a loose tooth or something, it was just so weird that there wasn’t any on my pillow or clothes or anything.

I also had a radio that would play music while it wasn’t plugged in. I hated that thing that tried to throw it out, but my dad refused to let a “good” radio go to waste, so he kept it on the garage. He still has the damn thing and I hate the sight it!

Wasn’t me, but a roommate in college experienced something.

There’s this old bridge in Pasadena, CA (you may recognize it as where Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone strolled on in La La Land). Well around here it’s known as “the Suicide Bridge” due to how many people take their own lives jumping off it every year.

Anyway, one night my roommate came home with her friends terrified. I asked what happened and they said they decided to drive their car on a dirt path that goes below the bridge for fun. It was pitch black and there were no other cars there. Suddenly, they see a white shadow outside the car. My roommate took footage with her phone and I could see what they were talking about. It was roughly the same size as a human being, and it was just standing there facing them. We’re all convinced it was a ghost from someone who had jumped from the bridge. Had a hard time sleeping that night!

My parents and I lived into the bottom of a two family house until I was 10. The landlords lived upstairs. I would randomly get creeped out and feel like I was being watched. One time I was playing with one of my cousins and I hid in my closet. Suddenly I was locked in. There was no lock on the door. I would hear Christmas music in the walls in the middle of summer. My mom always told me I was crazy. It wasn’t until we moved out and we were watching an episode of Unsolved Mysteries that my mom told me our landlords told her they saw the ghost of a little girl in one of their daughters rooms.

It was one of those fancy, realistic reborn baby dolls on the bottom bunk.

These are great!!

When our baby was about 3 months old I would sleep in her room on the fold out couch as she would be cluster feeding all night and it was just easier. I was asleep on the bed, facing her crib with plenty of room behind me on the bed when I felt someone bear hug me from behind- big, warm embrace that held on. Thinking it was my husband I woke up happy and started whispering to him while turning my face back when i realized there was NO ONE there. Heart beating out of my chest I shut my eyes and imagined a white light around me and felt whatever was there left. I didn’t sleep a wink after that. Later on I came to the conclusion that someone came to comfort me.

One time my sister was home alone and sitting at the computer, reading. The bathroom was down the hall with the door open and no one was in there. She heard a small cracking sound and then all of a sudden the entire shower glass had shattered into thousands of tiny pieces.

It was bizarre and unexplainable. The shower wasn’t near the window and the window was closed with untarnished glass, so it’s not like something was thrown through the window. And there was no one in there either. The glass also never had any cracks in it, so there was no reason that we could see for the entire glass to dramatically smash as if someone had hit it with a hammer.

I’m sure there’s a logical explanation from someone who knows more about glass but overall it was just a very creepy and weird thing to happen!
