My husband and I wanted these really ellaborate STD’s and invitations for the wedding. I thought we were going with a reputable designer, especially since her things have been in magazines but I have had nothing but problems!!! This particular designer is on etsy, but I don’t want to say who because I’m sure not everyone has had this experience.
She never retunrs my emails (can’t call because they’re located in a different country), and it took 2 months just to get the sample pack. Our STD’s were late, and now it looks like our invitations will be too (which we had to pay for upfront and had an agreed upon a delievery date for). The delivery date is 5 days away and I have been sending email after email to her with no response. I haven’t even seen a proof!!! I gave her our design in december….WTH! After she got my money it was like she didn’t care anymore.
And that’s another thing…. the crazy cost!! I thought spending this much would be worthit for these things because they are so beautiful but after all this stress and hassle they are TOTALLY not worth the $700 they cost us.
I’m not sure what to do at this point. The wedding is 2 months away and I need to send the invites out by March 11th so they get to people on time (a lot are being sent out of state). I don’t know if I can even get a refund at this point.
What would you do?
(P.S. I sent a very stern email just now (like the 5th one in the last 2 weeks) stating I wanted to see the proof and they still need to be to me by March 7th, but who knows if she’ll even respond.)

Have you contacted etsy? You might start there, maybe they can help you get them. I would also contact your credit card company and paypal if you used them. I would be prepared to buy some at Hobby Lobby if the time gets too late. Sorry, what a sucky situation. People like that are just horribly frustrating.

I would find out the country time difference and stay up and attempt to make a phone call to her… and if that didnt work… Im not sure if Etsy works like eBay with sending the payments via paypal but I would contact paypal and my credit card company and start a dispute… of course that does not allow enough time to maybe order invitations but that will allow you to eventually get your money back. Depending on your bank you may receive a temporary credit during the investigation but paypal usually settles disputes within 2-3 business days… again this may not be enough time to get new invitations created and delivered on time… Im sorry this is happening to you but honestly make 1 more attempt (the phone call) and if no response contact paypal and your bank / credit card and get your money back and figure out plan B which is getting new invitations. They may not be as nice as the original onces but in hind sight $700 is way too much money to be out of

Thanks bees. I got an email from her about 20mins after I sent her the stern one. Funny how after I threaten that I will need a refund all the sudden she get’s back to me. Anyway, she said they will still get to me on time and that she will email me a proof soon. We’ll see. If it doesn’t work out I’m going to attempt to get my money back and buy some from zazzle. I actually just bought table #’s, escort cards, programs, and menus from this beautiful designer. they got to me in days after ordering them and they have matching invites and envelopes. I would save a lot of money doing it this way. I almost wish I could just end our correspondence now and go with the back up plan instead. Especially since no one really cares about the invites other then my husband and I. I feel stupid for getting such expensive one’s in the 1st place. What was I thinking????

So sorry this is happening. At least you have a backup! And don’t beat yourself up over the situation…I think we all get blinded by wedding vision every now and then. 🙂

Thank you Gemstone! That is so nice to hear.

I’d be a little concerned and nervous. Is there any indication in this seller’s recent feedback of problems that others have had? I **think** Etsy is like Ebay in that you only have 45 days from the date of payment to get your money back. If you paid with a credit card or with a credit card through Paypal, then you have some other options.
I would be pushing the seller hard with this – that is totally unacceptable.
If the seller does come through, I would leave appropriate feedback so that other brides know what they’re getting themselves into.
Sorry you’re going through this!

So she finally sent me the proofs and what a hassle this is!!! I made a few changes (she even left words out of sentences) and stated clearly in the email that I expect the 2nd proofs back by noon PST the next day. Not only have I not gotten them yet and it’s been 2 days, but she just sent me an email saying that she “sent them yesterday as promised”. Uuuumm…. WHATEVER!!! Funny how whenever I really push her for things she said she already did it or that they will be coming soon. Same thing happend with the STD’s, and even with the sample pack. She told me she sent me one months prior but I nevr got it so obviously she needed to send me another one. It got to me a few days before the STD’s were due to be delivered to my house.
What a joke this all is. At this point I would need to put a rush on anything I order from some other company and they won’t nearly as ornate and beautiful as the original. I hate that I’m going through this. It’s stuff like this that make me wish we were never doing the vow renewal in the 1st place. 🙁

Im in a similar situation too, I ordered invites from a reputable place and they have no status on them or when they will be done. Time is running out here. I dread having to run to Michael’s and buy a DIY box since I already shelled out a lot of $$ for these. I am going to call everyday until I get an answer. If I dont get an answer soon, I am going to dispute it with my credit card and try to cancel the whole order. Sucks!!!

I am an etsy invitation of wedding paper design and the first thing that I concern myself with for all my brides is how often would you like communication. Communication within the web world is key is getting and feeling cormforatbel about what you want/deserve!
in this case she should have stated she would be in contact at least 2 times a week since you have a quick deadline. I’m so sorry you have to go through this 🙁
If you still need an invitation design and are afraid of paying $700 (OUCH!) let me know. 🙂

His Lil SantosGirl thank you! I’ll keep you in mind. I’m still trying to work it out with my vendor, and right now it looks like it might work out ok.
