Ok so, my OH and I had a chat the other day about how depressing and cold and miserable IReland is (we live here!). We had a long talk about the possibility of emigrating for a few years – go live somewhere nice n hot! After lots of talk – we settled on maybe California.
So we decided to plan a trip in October/November of this year to go visit San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas – one month holiday yey!! I was (half) joking about eloping while we were in Vegas and OH was really set on the idea! We looked up loads of stuff for our trip and decided what type of wedding in Vegas we would like. Anyhow, got home from work last night and went to look up the links on my computer in the history and found lots of wearches for engagement rings AAAAAAAAGHHHHH!!!!
Thing is, I feel in limbo. We pretty much have said were gonna get married in Vegas, he’s looking up rings. Howver, he works for himself and set up a business last year – I have been supporting us in the meantime. So I know he doesnt have any money. Sometimes he gets some cash…. So I dont know what to think! I mean – I have literally found my wedding dress – can I buy it now? LOL.
When do you gals think he might propose? It’s possible he will borrow credit card off his folks and give them cash, I want to know now! I’m so controlling LOL 🙂 Also, he starting logging out of his email last night after all the engagement ring searches… he never logs out of his mail!

If you’ve both agreed to eloping in Vegas than you’re indeed engaged. Congrats bee! If he gives you a surprise ring that’s sweet and if he doesn’t then you can pick something out together wherever. But first and foremost enjoy your holiday to the west coast and let things happen naturally! (I know us planner types like to know what’s going on but it’s worth it for a “surprise” of a lifetime) Would love to be there right about now lol New Yorker here and it’s been miserable here the past few days *sigh* get some warm sun for me! xx

haha… yes rain and wind here all winter! I don’t feel engaged because SO keeps winking at me and saying stuff like “you’ll have to wait and see!” And “if we actually do get marriied in vegas” With a stupid grin on his face!! I love surprises but way too impatient also!

Sounds very promising but before you get too excited sit down and make sure he is really serious in the elopement. You don’t want to get let down if he isnt as keen now he’s had time to think more. Sounds very promising though!

that’s my worry… we will be together for four years around the time we go away. And the engagement ring searches on the Internet made me feel like he was serious. But I also told him I didn’t want to get my hopes up and he reassured me so…….. here’s to hoping at least 🙂

Aw, congrats! It sounds like he plans to propose during your trip, which is very sweet. It kind of makes it difficult for you, though, because how do you know what to pack! I would say go ahead and buy a dress, but maybe try to opt for something that could also be used for another occassion instead of the traditional long white dress. If you really want a traditional dress, perhaps find a way to drop him a strong hint that you want to wear such a dress in your (hypothetical) wedding.
I empathize with you on the engagement limbo. My SO bought my engagement ring last weekend, and we picked it up from the store together just a few days ago. It has been sitting on the counter…just waiting. I think he’s waiting until our anniversary, which is in two months. Knowing it’s going to happen but not being able to announce it and jump into engagement mode is tough. Hang in there! Have fun in Vegas 🙂
