I’m starting the process of making my invitations and I feel slightly ridiculous asking this but… what size are they supposed to be? LOL I know square or heavy ones cost more to ship and we’re working with a super tight budget so what is the most common size of invitations and where can I find super cheap envelopes? Thank you!

I think A9 envelopes are an invitation size that don’t incur extra charge, but some of that will also be the weight of your invite.
ETA: If you’re using USPS, this might help.

My daughter made hers a little bit smaller-and they were cute and fit 6 to a page I think. I think for the invitation she used an ivory resume type paper and mounted that onto slightly larger cut colored cardstock. We got envelopes at a craft shop. I’ve seen plain white or ivory cardstock 50 cards and envelopes at the craft store here for $6 dollars or so, and 25 RSVP cards with envelopes for $3.00 Have fun & good luck!

Most invitations are A7 (5″x7″), some a smaller A6 (4.5″x6.25″) and response cards are A2 (4.25″x5.5″) or smaller #5 Baronial (4″x5.375″). These are typically the easiest sizes to find envelopes for. There are also square invitations #6 Square (6.25″x6.25″) or #5 Square (5.25″x5.25″), but they are typically more expensive to ship.
You should be able to search by the size names online and find cheap places. Search like “A7 Envelopes” and ton will come up as it’s a popular size. Good luck!

A lot of them are 5×7, which go with A7 envelopes. I mailed 5×7 invites, and there were no extra charges…just the standard shipping costs of a stamp! I like envelope mall for cheap envelopes – http://www.envelopemall.com/
