Since I got off the pill in April my cycles have been between 24-27 days, I’m on day 30 and nothing but sore ta-ta’s and a negative test that I took on Friday. A friend of mine said the test could have been a false negative, but I don’t know when to test again or what to “look” for?

@KansasPrincess11: I had a negative test, but when my cycle still didn’t come 5 days later I tested again and got a faint postive. I am now 8 weeks pregnant.

It all depends on the sensitivity of the test and how much hcg has built up in your blood (if you’re pregnant), which is all dependent upon when you had implantation.
I did see this report recently, and this cycle I’m going to use these, as they can detect very low levels of the hcg hormone. Some tests don’t pick it up until 25 or 50mlu. I say try one of these, and that will give you a more accurate answer. Good luck!

@jholler25: Thanks for the heads up! I have the…clear blue? I think…the one with the digital reader. I have to go get some groceries today anyway so no harm in picking up a First Response ๐

@KansasPrincess11: I used First Response. I found a $2 off Target coupon and used a $2 coupon from Frist Reponse website. I ended up saving $4!

It may just be that your cycles still aren’t normal from going off the pill. I know mine have been crazy. The first 2 months I had 28 day cycles like normal then a 35 and a 41. So needless to say I’m pretty ticked at my body for tricking me into thinking I was pregnant! Good luck though!

For some reason when I was pregnant I tested negative on half the stick tests and negative on every blood test… they had to do an ultrasound to know for sure! LoL

@WiLLowTreE: Well that’s good to know that I’m not the only one who could be jumping around like crazy! That might be it. I guess we’ll see over the next week or two…*sigh the waiting is killing me!
@HappilyEverAfter54: Oh wow! That’s unbelievable! I’m sure that was frustrating to not know whether or not you really are!

@KansasPrincess11: HaHa I know how you feel! Darling Husband is convinced I’m about 3 months pregnant now and that the negative tests and AF showing up late the past 2 months are just pregnancy symptoms. Bless his heart he’s just a little optimistic. =) At least it keeps the situation light and me amused. =)

I used the Digital First Response…and when my Darling Husband wanted me to double check, I used Clear Blue. Both worked great.
I have had several girls I know get a negative after being a couple days late, and test again a week later and get a positive.
Good Luck!

It’s possible you are pregnant but just too early for a positive test, but it’s also equally possible that you just aren’t regular yet. I mean, if you’ve only been off the pill since April, that is at most 3 cycles. That might not be enough time to establish a pattern of 24-27 day cycles and that would mean you aren’t truly ‘late’ yet.
If this was a regular 24-27 day cycle (meaning ovulation occured between day 11 and day 13) I would think day 30 would be late enough to pick up a positive. You might have just ovulated later in your cycle than usual, in which case you could still get pregnant but you wouldn’t know by day 30.
