I’m a nervous wreck!
I had my dating ultrasound a few weeks ago and at 8 weeks and 3 days the ultrasound tech said the baby was really healthy and had a hb of 171. I’m now almost 11 weeks (as of Weds) and I really have no reason to worry. After multiple losses I guess I’m just thinking of the worst.
i have no reason to think anything negative. I’m still nauseated, tired, etc. Im just ready to hear the heartbeat again so I can breathe without worry!
Please tell me I’m not the only one that’s like this between appointments.

@PacificMrs: I was a wreck before every appointment until I started feeling the baby move regularly (around 20 weeks) I’m sure you know this but once you hear the HB the chance of a loss goes way down. I’m sure all is well. Good luck at your appointment!

Aww, good luck hun! The nerves are completely normal, and unfortunately they never go away! The worries just evolve. I worried about getting pregnant, then staying pregnant, then birth, now I check her to make sure she hasn’t accidentally suffocated on absolutely nothing at all in her crib. I’m sure next I’ll worry about her climbing out, falling down, and even later I’ll worry about her first broken heart. I’m sure it’s normal, and it just means you care 🙂

@PacificMrs: Perfectly normal to feel this way! Everything will be okay but it will be WONDERFUL to hear the little one’s HB again. I’m on the march mom’s board and a lot of us picked up home dopplers around this time & were able to check in on the babe in between apts. But if you tend to be on the nervous side it might not be a good addition to your household because when the babe is little it can take a while to find the HB & can be nerve racking.

My doctor said (and this made me feel SO much better) “You hear the heartbeat? That means unless you start leaking fluid, you’re almost guaranteed not to have a miscarriage.”

@PacificMrs: I always freak out in between appointments! I feel like I am ok for 2 weeks after an appointment, but the last 2 weeks before the next one the worry starts to set in. I have been reassured many times that my rate of miscarriage is less than 1%, but still, at 21 weeks, I still freak out!

@PacificMrs: I am still nervous even though I am out of the 1st trimester. Every appointment I dread not being able to hear a heart beat. And now being in the 2nd tri its even worse because I’m not nauseous or anything. I have no symptoms to go by except round ligament pain and outgrowing my clothes.
I hope everything goes well for you and baby is still doing fine. Our baby had a strong little ticker too 🙂

Good luck today! I definitely was super nervous…and even though I’m 24 weeks and can feel her moving around in there, I still find things to worry about!

Thank you for all of the support, ladies! It turns out our insurance company automatically hooks people with low risk pregnancies up with a midwife, which I was super happy about! My midwife also had a student midwife with her and I spent about 45 minutes just chatting aboutnhow I was feeling, etc. She was so calming and reassuring. Then we tried for the Doppler, but she couldn’t find a heartbeat. She said not to worry, and her and my regular midwife came back with a portable ultrasound machine.
Now, two weeks ago at my 8 week 5 day appointment they couldnt even come close to finding the baby on the abdominal ultrasound. They tried for a good 10 minutes, but the baby was just too hidden. Well yesterday she wanted to try the abdominal first, and with nothing in my bladder to make things more clear, within 2 minutes she found the baby!
It certainly wasn’t as clear as the transvaginal, but sure enough there was the little bean. Heart beating away and moving like crazy! I feel so relieved! She said everything looks great and I have to schedule my 18 week ultrasound today.
