I did that…. I had my first dress shopping experience a few weeks ago where I dragged my mom, 2 sisters, grandma and future Mother in law all with me. We were there for 2 hours and I didn’t find my dress! Here’s the thing, they didnt care! They’re all coming with me again today for my second dress shopping trip and we’re going even farther this time. They don’t care how many times I go or where we go they are just happy to be involved and invited along and they just want me to find the perfect dress no matter how long it takes. Relax and don’t worry! πŸ™‚ I’m sure they’ll enjoy the trip whether you find your dress or not. GOOD LUCK! πŸ˜€

Don’t be nervous! I would just say don’t go into it with all of these expectations of how your experience should be and don’t let anyone overwhelm you or sway your opinion. This is YOUR dress and should be what YOU love!

You’ll be okay! Sounds like you already have an idea of what you’re looking for. Just have fun, and relax!

I was very nervous before hand as well, but once I tried on dresses, it quickly became REALLY fun. Here’s the thing though, I actually made appointments on my own and tried dresses on first without an entourage. It took the pressure off and gave me an idea of the types of silhouettes worked on my body, so I could narrow things a bit for when I did take along people. Bridal Reflections has great pricing AND they do negotiate a bit, so if you find your dress at another location for cheaper, it’s worth letting them know!

@BellaDee:  Are you all car pooling together? because that  always helps. We all met at my house and went in one car (except for my Future Mother-In-Law because she lived closer to the place). Or if you make an appt in the morning walk around the city a little or do something while you’re there to make it a whole day thing if you want. I don’t know how close the places you’re going to are to central park, but that’s a great place to go and hang out for a little especially on nice days in the summer. I’m sure they’ll still understand though because this is about you being happy, dont try and find the dress the first trip just because you feel pressured too, that’s what I did and it stressed me out! however if you do find the dress on the first trip that’s just a bonus you weren’t expecting!

@BellaDee:  I live on LI so I’m familiar with the distance between NYC and Massapequa.  It seems like you’ve done your homework and narrowed it down to specific dress styles .  Did you consider making both appointments on a weekend (taking on a full Saturday)?  For example make the appointment with the boutique in NYC early in the AM and afterwards take the Long Island Rail Road into Massapequa (approx. an hour ride) and it stops right by Bridal Reflections.  This way once you’ve tried on all the dresses you can make a clear decision as to which is the right dress for you (that is if you happen to fall in love with any of them).  If you fall in love with one at BR you can simply order right on the spot or if it’s the other way around and you love a dress in the NYC boutique you just head back on the train to the NYC boutique and place your order before heading back home.  It will be a long day but with good company and a break to grab a bite to eat it’s defiantely do-able.  Good luck!

Have you tried on any dresses?  I was surprised at the things I thought I wanted and what I actually liked on my body.  You could always go to a place like DB to get a few jitters out with a close friend!

don’t be nervous – you’ll see your body in a whole new light! don’t worry if you don’t find the one in the first salon/boutique – most girls aren’t that lucky.  Your nearest and dearest will just be delighted to share the day with you and fingers crossed you might find the right one πŸ™‚

Good luck and don’t worry!

I’m going dress shopping next month – actually, I’ll be at Bridal Reflections the same day as you! – and I was planning on going solo because I was worried about dragging people all over the place to watch me try on dresses. (BR is just one of the FOUR places I have appointments!) But when I mentioned to my mom and my bridesmaids that I was thinking of going solo to spare their time, they were all like, NOOOO!

It turns out they’re all really looking forward to it, and they all totally understand that I’m probably not going to be like, “This is it, wrap it up!” after the second dress. Talking to them about it made me realize that they didn’t see dress shopping as a chore, but as a fun experience they wanted to share with me! And that definitely made me feel better about the whole thing.

Don’t be nervous just relax and enjoy the process – when you find the one you will know!  I would have suggested going without an entourage to a place or two first to see what styles you like, but I don’t think it matters too much.  I went to 2 places with a friend first, then went with my entourage and found the one (last dress, too – talk about a stressful day! my mom wasnt leaving until we found one!)
