Hi fellow bees! Long time lurker, my first time posting 🙂
I’m really nervous about tomorrow… I go pick up MY dress! When I went dress shopping I didn’t have a great experience at this salon, but ended up falling in love with a dress so I purchased it. My measurements put me in between sizes so my consultant suggest I order the size smaller in order to save on alterations. I only needed to lose a half inch in my bust and waist, and so far I’ve dropped about 12 pounds. I also still have 7 months to the wedding. I’m really nervous that I’m not going to look as good in the dress in real life as I think I’ll look in my head.
So my question is this: how did everyone else feel seeing their actual dress for the first time? Did it look as good IRL as you thought? Any advice for my first fitting?
Thanks for for all your help 🙂

@buckeyebride0906: if you have undergarments yet, bring them! bring some heels (if you plan on wearing them) to see how much you need it to be hemmed.
and enjoy it!

The consultant I worked with ordered a dress that was clearly too big for me, plus I lost weight before the dress came in, so it was a few sizes too large (and it would have been at least two sizes too big since she ordered it so large anyway), so I had to exchange it for a smaller size. Now that I’m losing even more weight I’m betting I’ll have to exchange it again (can’t really alter it too much due to the design and beading).

@buckeyebride0906: It is so exciting seeing your dress for the first time! The same as you, I ordered a size smaller and it fit fine during my first fitting, however it needed a good amount of alterations. Its easy to get stressed out if the dress isn’t looking exactly like the one you tried on as a sample, but just know that alterations work wonders! Don’t get hung up on anything thats not perfect because after some alterations, it will be perfect! And yes, bring your shoes and undergarments that you plan on wearing. Most importantly, ENJOY!!

Ahh good luck! I’m a fellow bucket bride as well! My dress comes in the first week of February and I also ordered a size down. I’m nervous that it’ll be too small and I’ve been trying to lose weight although not fast enough lol. I am excited to see it though.
