- Wedding: August 2016
I’m actually properly a public fiancée!!! We got engaged at the end of january in a a beautiful country estate (http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/i-get-to-call-him-my-husband-soon-long-post/) and we decided that we wanted to keep the engagement a secret until we could get a ring and book everything for the wedding. We wanted a very short engagement so we could be married in August and this way we could announce the engagement and give everyone details of the wedding too. It was soooooo hard not telling everyone after about a week! We had to be really careful not to bring up our plans when we were out and luckily we went our with some friends the friday after we were engaged for drinks for our birthdays and no one but us knew that it was secretly our engagement drinks too 🙂
So, after a month we had arranged to see all of his family, and all of my family and friends over 4 days to tell everyone in person. Last friday we went to his parents house and after that to my home town and basically didn’t stop celebrating all weekend!! It was fantastic to see everyone’s reactions in person and everyone was so delighted for us. The actual engagement ring still won’t be in until the middle of March but we were able to get a wonderful local jeweller I love to make a place holder ring for me for last week so I could tell everyone while wearing a ring and also it can be my right hand ring when the engagement ring arrives. It feels really nice to have a ring on my finger after a month of secrecy!!
Here’s my place holder ring. ISLE jewellery, a Northern Irish designer made it for me. Each ring is hand carved and the facets are based on the geometry of the Giant’s Causeway. I love it! I also never realised how hard it is to take a decent photo of your own hand! We have most of the wedding stuff booked so now it’s time to relax and enjoy being engaged. Yay!!!
